Going to start making up novel or movie titles based on words I missed in the NYT Spelling Bee

Yesterday's is "Gangland Adagio," obviously a cringe memoir by a white teacher about working in the hood

Sharing this thread in case it is helpful. I mistakenly thought that all tax credits were on the chopping block. I contacted the agent who renews my ACA application annually and was surprised to find out that's not the case. Still a disaster for those effected.

I just emailed the insurance agent to ask what the rate will be without the tax credit. 😬

Slightly related: I would pay at least a dollar extra for every Amazon order if I knew that it was going toward things like "liveable wages" and "not working warehouse workers to death." Two dollars extra. Hell, five dollars. Call it the woke tax and let people opt out of it, I don't care.

I will not be watching or reading any "analyses" about the Democratic party in D.C. I know all about them & their complicity. I'm not interested and I choose to reclaim my time and attention.

There're other kinds of politics to engage & most importantly to do (including in our local communities).

Was admiring one of those Christmas model villages watching the clockwork townsfolk going about their merry routines when my wife said to me 'What if people's souls are trapped in the figures and this is their hell?' which isn't something I've worried about before but is all I will worry about now.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

“Wyoming would get run over by California!”

well, California is currently getting run over by Wyoming sometimes; the only reason to consider that a good thing is if you think people living in Wyoming are better than people in California for “some reason”
the OTHER thing is that no filibuster defender has yet to articulate why it is that people who happen to live in low density states not only deserve additional representation but also deserve to exercise a veto *on top of that*
