This is a nuts story. An AI chatbot and image platform left millions of images exposed. They show what people are actually using the AI for: taking random women's yearbook, graduation, and social media photos and making super realistic hardcore porn with them

It’s especially weird that this is a gospel. In context, the real Matthew 18:19 verse is Jesus speaking to a child. Like what would the context be around this? It doesn’t even seem like a line that would be part of a Biblical story.
AI slop now making up saccharine Bible verses that do not exist

It’s so much more embarrassing that the people doing this are comfortably well off and could totally do it if they actually wanted to

This guy is right but also they should stop making James Bond movies and I don’t care what their rationale is for doing so

It keeps getting stranger. Why do they have a backdrop if they're just gonna have the cameraman walk on and show that it's her kitchen?

It's a weird combination of lazy and trying too hard and

Only reasonable response is to stay off social media as much as possible. This shit cannot be useful to you. It’s not real. Anything real on these sites is just volunteering itself to these parasites
This person is one hundred percent correct and it’s scary af. We will never “media literacy” our way out of this as a society. We are about to reap the whirlwind when it comes to misinformation, disinformation, and informational warfare.

I had at least 1 black friend when I was five years old and this led to me having a near-religious reverence for MLK, and I thought this was kind of normal. Having a nazi phase seems to me to be partly contingent on having racist parents
i actually don’t think the “average” american millennial man had a nazi phase. it’s not some boys will be boys shit. this makes me side eye you and your friend group, sounds like a personal problem

As Emissary points out later, Coates actually used to cite Israel as a positive example before visiting, so Jacob’s is drawing here on stereotypes of black people as antisemitic, and hoping no one checks her on it.
Ta Nehisi Coates went to a country that imposed a military dictatorship onto five million people on the arbitrary basis of race and came away thinking that that's bad and some people are still angry with him because of that

The study of literature should encompass all aesthetic uses of language and is only hampered by the current focus on more-or-less contemporary novels

The overvaluation of Weiss is dependent on her presumed ability to appeal to an even broader audience given more resources. In spite of the exponential growth of her newsletter, the truth is that her actual supporter base is pretty small and most of them are not only paying $10
I think the counter argument to “Ellison and Weiss will turn CBS News into an unstoppable propaganda machine” is Bezos’s WaPo which lost basically all the talent and also is in a subscription death spiral

She triumphs over her critics in the sense that people keep giving her money, but she has never been successful at actually "selling the news" as she says she wants to do. The news is supposed to appeal to a huge audience for a relatively low price and she is actually terrible at that.
Ratio me. Please. It's a badge of honor. If you don't like a link, go follow some chicken-heart who needs the approval of the thought-police. Caitlin Flanagan of @theatlantic.com is a tremendous writer and this piece is an excellent read. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

The “please tell me which parts you think are broken or substandard” bit is very Elon Musk. Just rolling up to a big old organization and immediately trying to identify the parts that can be gutted and amputated.
Here's the full memo.

MSF staff are universally understood to be engaged in an essentially sacred form of work. For a state to nonetheless continuously murder them is a testament to a truly unthinkable degree of depravity.

It demonstrates that the limits of this tech are very very real, and nowhere near being overcome.

I don’t get these feelings because I’m not nostalgic about my zoomer childhood. I miss “youth” or whatever, but stuff was ugly when I was a kid. Little kids did spike their hair and there was Walmart, and it all looked like shit, and I kinda knew that even when I didn’t know anything else!
it's even weirder because its not clear these guys even have any memories of anything real? it's all some false nostalgia for stuff they imagined must have happened but their brains are too internet addled to be clear on it. weirder still because pool is like 50 isnt he?
