A solitary dolphin swimming off Denmark’s frigid coast is chirping and yelling into the vast nothingness, and no one is responding.
A lone dolphin has been yelling into Baltic Sea for years
No one is responding.

It’s very hard to square anyone claiming sincerely this is not what I voted for when there were 1000s of images of 1000s of people holding “Mass Deportation Now!” signs at the Republican National Convention

And that's what my experience with hunger brought home to me, in a way I've never forgotten: if you're hungry, it's so so much harder to think, to plan, to save, simply to exercise self-control & self-discipline. It weakens all those systems. It makes everything harder -- *everything*.

One of the things I think (some) people have come to appreciate in recent years is just how much the circumstances of being poor -- hunger, exhaustion, anxiety, uncertainty -- *in & of themselves* make it immeasurably more difficult to do the things required to escape poverty.

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

“What is the reasoning underlying this claim?”
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Stop humping your brother."
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Where are your citations?"

Milan Winter Olympics kicked off on a stage shaped like a giant centrifugal pump, the primary pump type used for pressurizing water systems today. The centrifugal pump was invented by Italian engineer Francesco di Giorgio Martini in 1475.

Very glad the sports guy told me that that was a model of the solar system otherwise I might not have known that that very particular, unique thing that looks like nothing other than a representation of the solar system was a model of the solar system

Well of course NBC has blocked the delightful video of Italian comedian Brenda Lodigiani doing a universal visual guide to Italian hand gestures.

it would be too in keeping with the accessibility of spirit in which in was created to literally ALLOW ANYONE TO ACCESS IT

And the food of the dark, swarthy, garlic-worshipping Catholics shall never touch my newly filler-enhanced lips, for I am America’s specialest white boy
Not only did they bring a small private army, but among the waste of taxpayer money was BRINGING A FULL PLANE OF FOOD.

To *Italy*.

production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

government and the ruling class spent decades building up the nonprofit industrial complex and we are seeing how well that effort and the policies that support make it next to impossible for you to just…help people

there are so many barriers to mutual aid at this scale. but we are figuring it out.

my friend and followers helped pay around maybe 130-140 people’s rent in the past 6 days? like. so much of it was just you guys. it is insane to me, this platform.

This book really affected me, I think because the narrative vividly illustrates in such a personal way how everything works in practice bsky.app/profile/dipl...
A Day in the Life of Abed Salama: Anatomy of a Jerusalem Tragedy, by Nathan Thrall is very good and highlights the draconian geographical limitations placed on Palestinians under occupation, and how they are *literally* fatal.
