I minored in AADS and did my work study in the department and it’s been far more valuable to my ability to critically analyze our current moment than the philosophies I was taught in the Government program. This is precisely why these programs are being targeted.
This is a travesty. African and African Diaspora Studies at UT Austin has been one of the best programs in the country. And for historical context, this is explicitly about reversing the gains of student movements in the 60s and 70s.

If you want AI proliferation, you must support Universal Basic Income. Otherwise, your ethics are compromised.

If we gave everyone subsistence, no, we wouldn't have a lazy society. There's no limit to what people might do if their basic needs were met... we'd have less peril and more innovation.

easy slogan for the next democratic presidential candidate is “i will reform the corrupt supreme court and repeal citizens united”
“When Citizens United was decided in 2010, billionaires had spent $18 million on the 2000 election, $13M 2004 and $16M in 2008. Then came the deluge. In 2012 it was $231M, and nearly doubled again in next three election cycles —to $682M in 2016, $1.2 billion in 2020 and $2.6 billion in 2024.” Gift:

Dell has been on this beat since the very beginning and points out a thing often missed: the cost to all of us for Amazon’s loss prevention strategy is a nationwide surveillance network.
Ring is first and foremost a scheme to charge Amazon customers to deter crime that costs Amazon (not the customers themselves) billions annually in refunds, returns, double shipping, and customer service overhead.

Never again is happening right now
More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

I think the Senate is going to go on recess EVEN WHILE everything has not changed in Minneapolis, ICE is buying warehouses and saying publicly they are “going to ship bodies like Amazon, and airports are being shut down for..reasons.

If they do go on recess there should be a general strike

You won't find a more important piece than this -- an absolute must-read from the woman who wrote the book on concentration camps
When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...
