A BLOOMY HEAD is my first historical romance, set in 1820 Shropshire. Dr. Thomas Holyoke has been unceremoniously ejected by a horrible injury from the British military, and finds himself being taken home to the chaotic family of his surgical assistant, Henry Gravenor.
hey! Lovestruck Books currently has ONE copy of A Bloomy Head left on the shelves!

i have failed at finding the exact post/thread but thanks to @feliciadavin.com for inspiring this idea
a thing I proposed on discord which I’m super excited about:

one-chapter-of-nonfiction-you-own book club. so: once a week (or more, I’m not your boss), pick up a nonfiction book you have on hand and read 1 chapter. doesn’t have to be sequential, doesn’t have to be the same book week to week.

first on the docket for me: chapter 7 of The Making of Paris by Russell Kelley.

Good news, y'all! I start a new job in early January! Yay! Beyond relieved at the prospect of a regular paycheck again.

The bad news, I won't get a full paycheck until the end of January when February's bills are already due.

Help? 💜 Thank you, friends.

Plastic surgery is gender affirming care.

Hair growth hormones? Gender affirming care.

Electrolysis or laser hair removal? Dick pills!

Gender affirming care.

Birth control? Gender affirming care. Estrogen for perimenopause or menopause? Guess what that is!

this whole thread is great.
Thanks to Heated Rivalry, people are asking why so many women are writing and reading m/m romance.

Not only is that a boring question, it's backwards.

Why shouldn't women (and women-adjacent people) be doing this? Also: why aren't men reading and writing more genres that center love and HEAs?

KNIVES FOR ALL

(also this thread up and down is v. cool)
"It's because of how they used to print pages. They printed a huge sheet, then folded it up and stitched through the fold to make the book spine. They left the folds uncut, and you used a book knife to cut them open."

basically whenever I try to help an instacart shopper in a romance language I am speaking something which I would describe as “Espantugançais” or “very drunk Latin.”
as I am not bilingual, I only have that issue when trying to speak French, Spanish, or Portuguese, which violently interpolate themselves throughout my brain.

I would feel more embarrassed about this if I hadn’t had a customer approach me last week, open box of merchandise in hand, and say, “I tried one of these protein bars and I don’t like it. What should I do?”

friends, I am *fried.*
ARTICHOKE.
my one fun food thing this Christmas: trying to replicate the textures/flavor balance of a delicious salad I had in New York.

base: shaved fennel. dressing: balsamic, maple syrup, mayo. accoutrements: chopped hazelnuts, finely diced tomatoes, pickled avocado hearts.

Local mustard here is just like the best if you have space for another. Not whole grain but very course ground.

ARTICHOKE.
the original salad had pistachios instead of hazelnuts and green olives instead of avocado hearts, as well as sweet orange slices. however, this version is still very tasty.

We had a mustard fairy tradition in our house for years after there was fancy mustard in my son's stocking & he said it was a gift from the mustard fairy who we must honor by eating more mustard.
