If we're all looking for Adobe alternatives again, I've been using Krita ever since I lost my ancient version of Photoshop. Krita is free, opensource art software for Windows + Mac with no AI features (unless you add them yourself). I drew all my book covers with it last year! krita.org/en/

I believe the whole point of making art is to be delighted by making it. Or perhaps more precisely to be gratified by making it--some art, for instance, comes from anger, and while anger is not delightful it is important to express, explain, convey, etc. That expression is gratifying.

When I was doing press for A GENTLEMAN'S GENTLEMAN last year one interviewer brought up Barry but then inexplicably used they/she for him. I wish I'd said what I was thinking ("he would murder you for that, dude") rather than gently modeling behavior
