Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth

You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

The reason that "respectable" and "intellectual" conservative and centrist pundits have spent the last decade arguing that social pressure and public opinion are morally equivalent to state coercion is to lay the groundwork for justifying the latter.
Right wing thinking on this is that there’s no consequential difference between the President using tools to influence CBS into canceling the Late Show and all of the various cancelations that happened under “Wokeness.” No difference between Colbert and Roseanne, for example.
I think it’s bad that the President of the United States is gleefully seeking the scalps of late night comedy show hosts who say things he doesn’t like. I think that speaks to just how bad of a place we are in now.

i consider it a sign of the reactionary shift in the overton window that it is difficult to criticize one of the most hegemonic and powerful institutions on earth without getting piled on by "progressive" defenders, even if you add the caveat/hedge of "extremism"
Christian extremism is a cancer

The discourse about how to protest right is a distraction from what the protests are actually about: SECURITY FORCES CAME IN THE NIGHT AND TOOK 2000 PEOPLE AWAY

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

I'm sorry, I don't buy this. David Graeber and David Wengrow effectively demonstrated the myriad ways societies could organise in early human history. The point about autocrats is not that we are hardwired to follow them but they employ systems of coercion. www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m...
Are we hardwired to fall for autocrats?
It’s human nature to trust strongmen, but we’ve also evolved the tools to resist them

This is great stuff. I support any decision that degrades the integrity of the Hall of Fame, because it's just dumb journo crap that no real sports fan should care about. In fact I think Cooperstown should build a monument to the heroes who rigged the World Series!
"In a historic, sweeping decision, baseball commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday removed Pete Rose, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and other deceased players from Major League Baseball's permanently ineligible list."
Rose, 'Shoeless' Joe HOF-eligible as MLB lifts ban
The all-time hit king and Jackson -- both longtime baseball pariahs stained by gambling, seen by MLB as the game's mortal sin -- are now presumably eligible for election into the Baseball Hall of Fame...

If anything its a badge of honor
Stop using "felon" as a pejorative.

I have known A LOT of people charged with or convicted of felonies who were good and decent people. When you have 4% of the world's population and 22% of the world's prisoners in a racialized police state, "felon" isn't predictive of anything, character-wise.

Keep in mind. Trump isn’t giving all these ICE Agents directions individually. They are choosing to do this. Stealing money. Making girls stand in the rain in their underwear. That’s their choice. Because people who chose to be ICE Agents chose it for pain it causes.
Please highlight this story.

ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago.

Labour's idea of 'free speech' is freedom to make trans people feel unsafe on campus, but not the freedom to criticise Israel.

I'm actually looking forward to Stefon Diggs being back in the AFC East, it's gonna be spicy. The Patriots made a lot of moves in the off season and I was worried the Bills were in danger of not taking them seriously. That won't happen now
