“Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself. (I am large; I contain multitudes.)” ~ Whitman

For my sins, I’m back in Missouri.
Do you think he knows that when he says stupid shit like “I’d rather be wrong than weak” he sounds like Trump? Like I’ve sometimes gotten “Trump for liberals” vibes from him before, but it’s rarely been so front & center. Dude gives me the creeps.
The text faded to the paywall at the same rate as my eyes would have glazed over anyway

It’s his “singular focus” because if he talked about any of his actual stances people might realize he’s just a Never Trumper Republican. 🙄

Just a reminder that George Conway is not fundraising right now to run against a MAGA republican.

He is fundraising to run against progressive Democrats.

The best part is there’s a nonzero chance the “interim authorities” in Venezuela he was talking to don’t exist, aren’t actual interim authorities, or are about to release a statement contradicting all of this. Ain’t it “fun” having a president who’s a pathological liar also succumbing to dementia?
“This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America…”

The best thing that happened to me online was Facebook locking down my account when it was hacked while I was taking a social media break. I didn’t find out about it for a week or two, but Facebook said I waited too long & disabled my account permanently. I never made another & never looked back.
I visit facebook every day to check my messages (a shocking number of the people I do business with seem to only communicate via facebook) and I steel myself every time not to get sucked into some drama or slop or some relatives MAGA rantings. It’s the worst

I know I should be happy about a better draft spot, but I’ve been a Chiefs fan since back when this rivalry was really serious, and I just don’t think I can ever be okay with losing to the Raiders. 🫤

Luckily for the Raiders, this season the Chiefs are gonna Raider too. 🤦‍♀️
Ha ha ha ha ha…Raiders gonna Raider. 😆

This is what happens when you rely on consultants (and imaginary friends) to tell you what to say. You sound like you’re speaking canned lines because you ARE speaking canned lines, and nobody trusts you. Get off message for a day or two, for fucks sale, & let us see your outrage. (If you have any.)
We must focus on lowering costs for the American people, not starting new wars on a whim with no tangible strategy.

All right, Chiefs. You have one job today. Figure out how to get Travis 57 receiving yards so he can take 2nd place on the TE receiving list.

Oh, well two jobs. Beat the Raiders. Because fuck the Raiders.

I am not trying to be funny, but the broader conversation in America about third spaces needs to be had and reframed from kid friendly vs childfree to simply usable space.

People speak as if there are tons of places that are kid hostile & I don’t believe you.

Strip clubs & bars are ALL we have.

Perhaps we could do that if the “cognitive amplifier” tools actually amplified instead of degraded cognition. Until then…slop!

Anyhoo…what you’re actually seeing is the desperate fumbling of a man who sank WAAAAY too much money into a feature no one wants & is now seeing the writing on the wall.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says people should move beyond calling AI 'slop'

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium ... that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other"

I’ve been looking at a lot of accounts that insist Dems can’t do anything because they LOST OMG! It’s interesting how much of the subtext of their posts (if not outright text) boils down to Trump is the punishment folks deserve for not voting for Harris (even though most of us voted for Harris).

I mean you can find these names being used in the Farmer’s Almanac as far back as the 1950s & they seem to originate in Native & Colonial America. Seems weird to get bent out of shape about it.

(The article’s paywalled but I assume this is really just about being pissy about astrology. Which, fair)

Gulf War 2 was basically a trauma response to 9/11, and it was a fever dream of a time.

I remember talking to a friend while shopping about the weird jingoistic merch everywhere & a random lady heard us & loudly declared to the entire store how WONDERFUL it was that people LOVED THEIR COUNTRY.
in a weird way I’m sort of heartened by the day 1 reaction to this? I mean, I know it’s pretty bad from the media and some Dems but I also remember the absolute across the board cheerleading when we went into Iraq and there is genuinely orders of magnitude more pushback today

Pretty much everyone I've seen asking for action from Democrats *voted for Harris.* But this rhetoric is so common, I think @clairewillett.bsky.social and I discussed it almost 5 years ago when Biden was POTUS. (She was bullied online for daring to question Democratic tactics against the GOP.)

Even if you truly believe there’s nothing to be done while Republicans hold Congress, I still don’t know what in the last 12 or so years would lead you to believe that the Democrat Party as it exists right now would hold anyone accountable if they take power. #PrimaryThemAll
America is not going to be rescued from utter fascism by Democrats, at least not those currently in power.
