“Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself. (I am large; I contain multitudes.)” ~ Whitman

For my sins, I’m back in Missouri.
Okay, here’s another one…why do I only get upstairs neighbors who don’t get home until after 11PM every night and proceed to walk around overhead for the next hour when I’m trying to wind down? And it’s not a late weekend nights thing; it’s every single night. The last 3 of them have been this way.
I recognize that I have a lazy streak, but still…why is it that people who never sit still always seem to take apartments on the top floor. Like dude’s not even walking that loud, but it’s CONSTANT and not regular enough to ignore like white noise. Just please sit down & watch a movie, dude!!

The good news is that I don’t think MTG has any interest in becoming a Democrat.

The bad news is the actual Democrats who are still trying to drag the tent to the right as fast as they can.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

Just saw someone on The Bad Place claim that this season has been a “total franchise collapse” for the Chiefs and you can really tell when some wasn’t around for the Todd Haley & Romeo Crennel years, y’know?

Yeah, this season is a let down, but it can be and has previously been so much worse.

Now we play the game of “Did they delete everything that harms Trump or has the senile old man just forgotten it’s not just Democrats on the files?”

Predictions that AI will be ubiquitous in 5 years made by someone who has a huge financial stake in the technology being ubiquitous in 5 years should be met with a great deal of skepticism, even if they’re playing at being concerned.
AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs and spike unemployment to 10% to 20% in the next one to five years, predicts Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. cbsn.ws/44c6Vgk

Others have pointed out that what AI is doing now is not cognition, but I thought I’d point out that they’re also absolutely not going to do anything to cushion the blow. Just in case you might have found any of that persuasive.
The plow, the steam engine, electricity — all replaced muscle. AI replaces cognition. If you spend your day “reading lots of stuff and turning it into straight English,” well… so does the machine. The goal now is to learn from history and cushion the blow better than last time.

People in the replies are insisting it’s “just a generalization” while ignoring how many other replies are assuming she personally was a Trump voter just because she’s from Tennessee. And none of them are engaging with her points about gerrymandering & voter suppression in red states. 🙄
Behn: My biggest pet peeve in politics is when people who don’t live in the South say, “You get what you voted for.” I didn’t vote for the highest maternal mortality rate in the country. I didn’t vote for the highest inflationary cost of groceries in the country.

The virtual measurement remains the dumbest new “innovation” in the NFL this year. It takes 3 times as long as the physical chains & it still all depends on the spot.

The refs being so damn flag happy today isn’t doing anything to make me more excited about this game. 🙄
I’m having a hard time getting stoked for football this year and it’s a bummer. I would like to start feeling like myself again soon-ish.

Anyway, I’m kinda sorta watching the game so Go Chiefs!!

What a very “rich white out-of-touch Gen X man” thing to say. 🙄

See what happens when Trump finally starts to show weakness and cracks in his previously unflappable base? TV pundits start to find their spines again.
KARL: The president claims that Thanksgiving costs are down 25%. Does he know that's not true?

HASSETT: Well if you look at Walmart--

KARL: Wait a minute. I've gotta stop you. The Walmart package this year contains much less than the one last year. That's why the price is less.

Okay, I know it’s not cool to be annoyed by screaming babies on a plane. But can I be annoyed about a baby screaming so loud that I can hear it through their closed apartment door, up the stairwell and through my closed apartment door? Check on your kid if they’re screaming THAT loud. That’s a lot.

Watching folks in the replies insist it wasn’t because they were women, it was because they didn’t meet their super exacting standards (that they conveniently don’t hold male candidates to) is a real trip.

Internalized misogyny is hard to defeat because it’s hard to see it in ourselves. Just sayin.

👇👇👇 They waited just long enough for people to forget how bad it was pre-ACA and Dems absolutely MUST be out here reminding people or we’re gonna be right back there. Because with groceries & housing through the roof, folks will try to convince themselves a check is a good idea.
Before ACA, I regularly had patients who bought insurance they thought was "best for them". I've seen $50k annual max, $500k lifetime max, plans w/ no Rx coverage, plans *carving out* cancer treatment, plans that denied leukemia treatment because prior iron deficiency anemia was a pre-existing. /1

Look, I don’t know what news he got at his last 6-month “annual” check up, but the way he’s been acting, this is clearly a man who doesn’t think he has much time left.

This. I keep seeing people posting “just because MTG’s turned on Trump doesn’t make her our ally.”

Babies, no one is saying she’s our ally.* We’re saying enjoy the show.

(*I think a lot of us are still carrying around a lot of anger about Dems embracing Liz Cheney, et al and losing.)

Do I think she’s actually feeling shame? God, no.

Do I think she’s closer to the MAGA base than most of the rich elite GOP leadership and can tell which way the wind is blowing? I really do and she clearly believes Trump’s in real trouble with his base this time.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.
