If you get your insurance through your job, it’s subsidized by the govt through ESI.

There’s no income cap, it helps the rich the most, and ~1/10 workers in those plans pays no premium.

But when the ACA subsidies help the middle class and provide some zero-subsidy plans? GOP can’t accept that.

also worth emphasizing again that there is no time for anything except a clean extension for the coming year. even then, it’s unclear how the subsidies would be applied. this has been the case for like two months now

it's a mistake to compare the cost of your newsletter or podcast to a cup of coffee. that cup of coffee is the best treat i'm allowed to have every single day. no podcast is comparable to the beverage that justifies staying alive. instead market your newsletter as two thirds of a sweetgreen salad

No print mags have the reach they once did. But it's notable to me that I keep seeing articles like this in People, very broad-spectrum, apolitical, at least in my experience. Gives a sense of how much this stuff is breaking through.

One Haitian woman “showed up as scheduled, and when she arrived, officers were asking everyone what country they were from, and if they said a certain country, they were told to step out of line and that their oath ceremonies were canceled,” her attorney said.

the average person has no real idea what the fuck is being done in washington, so a "major announcement" for something we all take for granted is an opportunity to break through the noise. a lot of the time it wont work. but they should try it anyway.

if democrats should steal anything from the trump playbook its the constant use of media availabilities. trump wastes his by ranting about bullshit but its very useful to have cameras on for wh meetings, "special announcements" etc. steal the enemy's playbook and beat him with it.

Very poor framing for this piece. I think Trump II is such a challenge for conventional analysts compared to Trump I because it has added a racist civilizational layer to its narrative of grievance over free trade and NATO burden-sharing.

And that's a language many people aren't equipped to parse.

then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

One hopes. But the Reform party for example already gets 2/3rds of its funding from foreign countries. And is frighteningly popular.
Furthermore, the overt eagerness of the Trump administration to interfere in European politics has promising potential to backfire at the cost of the “patriotic parties” they seek to support.

This. This. This. This.

If the US takes away its conventional forces, then it's over for NATO as we know it.

One of the main reasons for those forces *in the first place* was to put enough American soldiers at risk so that the Kremlin would believe an U.S. president might actually push the Button.
It's not credible the US would fight a nuclear war over Europe if they aren't willing to contribute conventionally.
