A U.S. Senator just called Netflix "the woke-est content in the history of the world," which is laughable as all get out. But let's play along and assume it was true: Netflix is by far the most popular streamer in the U.S. and the world. So...Americans must really love "woke"? πŸ€”

It's also why the moved the horde of them from Minnesota to Ohio. They're hoping the extreme attention will wear off. And it's already starting to.
ICE hasn't stopped brutalizing people or shredding the Constitution, it's just that corporate media turned the camera as the call for action got too loud and the Democrats stepped in and made sure the issue got changed.

If you sit for a second, you'll recognize that's what happened with BLM, too.

That's for damn sure!

I just don't get the lack of self-awareness. Don't scream about people for enjoying a Thing With Bad People Involved if you yourself still enjoy a different Thing With Bad People Involved! The hypocrisy stings for me more than anything, I think. But such is life online.

You are KILLING IT.

AS ALWAYS.

The vibes in Trost's new film are absolutely immacualte. You can feel the Castlevania and Resident Evil aesthetics just *radiating* from what he's captured so far.

Truly exciting work coming down the pipeline.
I’m excited to finally share some work in progress test footage of my set building for The Castellum of Blood.

I’ve pushed the deadline to March 1st for anyone who still wants to be part of bringing this monstrosity to life.

Three rules in FBI firearm training:

1. Always point your weapon downrange
2. Do not point your weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot
3. Don’t put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot

Guns are not for threatening compliance for unarmed people doing things you don’t like
happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

(Which, based on your earlier posts, is EXACTLY what some people are doing.)

I get it.

We all have things we love that are tainted. As the world burns around us, I don't fault folks for still enjoying such things. I think what it boils down to for me is no one should scream at someone for indulging in Tainted Thing A, when they themselves still roll with Tainted Thing B.

DRACULA: A LOVE TALE (2025, dir. Luc Besson)

Imagine if someone tossed Coppola's Dracula, Tykwer's Perfume, a small dose of Jordan's Interview with the Vampire, and the humor of Burton's Sleepy Hollow into a very French blender & then dusted the top of the final concoction with a bunch of cocaine.

The insane amount of support that this campaign has already received goes a long way towards showing how horribly Joel fumbled things with fans in regards to the failed S14 campaign. I'm glad that it looks like the ship has been righted. For a moment there, it looked like MST3K was gone for good.
In the not-too-distant future, RiffTrax is making four new episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000! Support us on Kickstarter: rifftraxmakesmst3k.com #RiffTraxMakesMST3K @mst3kofficial.bsky.social

"Standing room only."

Tell me you don't go to movie theaters without telling me you don't go to movie theaters.
Kayleigh: My mom went to see Melania. She said the theater was packed, it was standing room only. People were cheering through it, they were excited. It was interactiveβ€”people interplaying with the film. She said it was just electric.

Perhaps. But on that front, I'll defer to Tricia Cooke's judgment. She clearly wants her toplining all three of these and there must be a reason for that. Given the Ethan Coen of it all, they no doubt had a lot of options for performers to select. In the end, they chose Qualley and I'm good with it.
January 30, 2026 at 8:56 PM
These movies were never going to be a bridge though. They're relatively small budget releases that get barely any marketing. Only cinephiles know about them. Everyone else will either find them on streaming or never know they exist.

Only bigger stuff can be a proper bridge, sadly.

Ethan should definitely put O'Brian in the third one (GO BEAVERS!) though.
January 30, 2026 at 8:48 PM
I'd watch the hell out of a Katy O'Brian P.I. movie. But despite critics and cinephiles liking her, she's way more lacking in "bonafides" than Qualley. O'Brian *deserves* way more recognition. No question there. But Qualley has been nominated for a bunch of accolades. Seems weird to ignore that.
January 30, 2026 at 8:47 PM
I get maybe not finding her appealing as a performer, but she's not the problem here and she actually does have the bonafides to be headlining these.

I just hope the third one turns out better than this did.

The problem with HONEY DON'T is that it has a paper thin script and looks like a DTV cheapie, especially if you saw it in a theater. The writing is bad and it's shot like shit. The entire cast seems utterly lost with the material as a result.

And I saw that as someone who loved DRIVE-AWAY DOLLS.
January 30, 2026 at 8:35 PM
No bonafides?

What would you call acclaimed performances in THE LEFTOVERS, BLUE MOON, KINDS OF KINDNESS, THE SUBSTANCE, FOSSE/VERDON, etc.? Even in movies that critics tend to dislike (i.e. DRIVE-AWAY DOLLS), her work is always highlighted.

The amount of folks who (rightfully) blast Schumer for his "I wrote a stern letter!" responses to horrendous Trump Administration things who then turn around & beg folks to leave stern messages/emails at Schumer's office is hilarious to me. Do you not see the problem there? It accomplishes nothing.

You could not pay me to live in a community that had an HOA.

"Call Schumer's office!"

Chuck Schumer doesn't care what any of us think. At all. The only way to get through to him is to primary him. That's it. That's the move.

I'm also glad said person appears to not be here on BlueSky, because if I'd ever catch them lamenting non-IP fare not doing well, I'd be tempted to light them up over this. Because they themselves are actively not helping.
January 28, 2026 at 1:42 AM
I hope someone dumps a full soda on this person the next time they set foot in a theater.
