Hello, new followers! I was elected in 2022 to the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee in Maryland. We are not government officials, but we are on the primary ballot every four years and elected by the 400,000 Democrats in our county to lead the local party.

This is the kind of thing I think about when someone complains that universal basic income would make people dependent on the government for survival. You instead want to depend on Tyson Foods for your survival? Do you get to vote on what corporations do??

I don't know Bill Ferguson -- but he is not a lawyer. I do not know a single experienced redistricting or voting rights lawyer who agrees with him. If Ferguson doesn't want to redraw the map, he should just own it. Don't make up dumb legal arguments.

You can really understand a lot of the outrage and contempt from the press at Democrats seriously trying to contest the GOP in redistricting and legislative brinkmanship as the equivalent of those 19th century anti-suffragist cartoons attacking women for pretending to be men.
