yeah, this is pretty key. anti D language in D primaries needs to be carefully calibrated. note that both Kat and Lander call out Ds for not fighting against Rs hard enough. they do not say, "Rs and Ds are the same working together and we'll be different"; unlike Bernie or the Greens.

people just have trouble understanding that tons of Democratic voterslike Democrats. that's why insurgent candidates often lose. it's not trickery. it's that voters vote for incumbents and establishment candidates because they like them. 1
If the Dem establishment forces a candidate down the voters throats people will sit out the next election like they did this last one. I'm on your side and want the Dems to win, but the over 50 crowd are not in alignment with the under 40 crowd. Can't count on Trump being horrible for a GOP loss.
asking for people not to participate is not realistic, and not even a good idea, imo.

I agree with this. Most people who heard “mass deportation” implicitly added “of criminals and recent migrants” to the phrase, something which the Trump campaign itself supported through surrogates like Tom Homan who even during the transition was talking about how the focus would be on “criminals.”
