Take your Kimmel protest energy and use it to freeze out that hateful JKR too!

Maybe HP was a part of your childhood. Well now it's a slap in the face and a dagger in the back of people who just wanna live.

Don't let her see a dime!
Gonna just say, if it's this easy to protest against the monolith that is Disney. Then there is no excuse for people to be clinging to Harry Potter. Like, if the needle can be moved against Disney, people can make it move against JK Rowling. Stop the flow of money into her accounts,
If you protested Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air by canceling Disney+ or some similarly simple action that had clear, direct, effective results, it feels good that you helped get him back, right? The neat part of you can choose another simple action, and keep that awesome feeling going.

A quoi sert la reconnaissance d'un Etat de Palestine si l'on ne contraint pas Israël à stopper le génocide des Palestiniens ?

every time we talk about parental permission in terms of book banning I'm like fuck man. kids have rights too. a 17-year-old should be able to check out books at the library without Mom and Dad stepping in. so should a 10-year-old or 7 or whatever. kids deserve SOME goddamn freedom and privacy

Attacks on so many institutions at once (UO, U Chicago, Virginia Tech) just make the playbook clearer: manufactured fiscal exigency and/or actual financial mismanagement used to purge faculty and hollow out humanities education, w/ the current admin giving new cover for their own ideological agenda
A massive attack on several humanities units (Arabic Studies, Judaic Studies, Holocaust Studies, Classics, Religion, German & Scandinavian, Russian/East European/Eurasian Studies) *and* tenure now unfolding at the University of Oregon (a blue state!). Closure of units and faculty layoffs threatened.

I'm telling you: this is happening everywhere. Don't give me your dissembling about budgets or private/public or whatever. There is a complete wholesale attack on knowledge production and it is dismantling every university. They're starting with the Humanities b/c they know you'll let us die first.
just got word that my department's being shut down. two things:

1. no, i'm not okay. i've no words for how hard i've worked for this department and this institution. i feel betrayed, frankly, though i know it's not personal.

2. we rocked, y'all. i've no words for how hard we rocked, either.
