For those that haven't checked it out yet, I have had a KoFi for a while, but actively started to use it. Currently I have two shorts up on there for people to read, and this weekend, I will be sharing the first Chapter of Humanity's Grave as a teaser for it. Go check it out
The problem with the OSA, is that it is legislation that has been subject to scope creep and by constantly framing it under the lens of "Protecting the Children" has diminished any oversight and meaningful debate on what it means. I've sat in interesting convos about the failure of this policy,

God, she sucks on so many levels. Like, to go, this healthcare isn't data led is hilarious when you see the absolute scientific abomination that is the Cass Report, which excluded so much data in order to justify it's position. These people were all willing to defend that report weren't they.

I kinda used to have a lot of time for Anthony Horowitz, his like teenage spy novels were like foundational to my teen years. I loved the Alex Rider novels. But this has made my estimation of him dive bomb so bloody hard. Like, how continuity brained do you have to be about the Bond films for this.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Solid thread on breaking down why voters might be turned off by the labour party at this very moment. - Labour are so out of step with the electorate and general public.
It is wild to talk about money in Cash ISAs not contributing to the economy, when there is wealth hoarding going on.

Yeah, this is a tricky one. Hang on a sec.
Messaging aside, maybe voters just don't *like* going to prison for peaceful protest? Or being pushed into poverty by continuing austerity measures targeting the most vulnerable in society while watching MPs line their own pockets with lobbying cash? 1/?

This is a thing with the ultra-wealthy, they believe they are entitled to power and unlimited access to politicians. When frozen out, they act like petulant children. Rupert Murdoch is recorded once saying, the reason he hates the EU, is because he cannot get access to any of the commissioners
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

I think GRRM would slowly and more surely get annoyed with me, as I harped on about fantasy and how I long for Winds of Winter.
I love GRRM, he has a real love for the craft, but I think he would find me so obnoxious.

I asked this before over at The Old Place and the answers delighted me. So again:
Who is an artist you admire who you suspect would not like you if they met you personally?
I think Peter Dinklage is fantastic. I would absolutely get on his last nerve. He'd be looking for the door while we spoke.

This is an interesting development, as given the requirement of novelty in the patent. It indicates that there was a failure from the examiner to look at the state of the art, or even consider the technical elements. This has been a feature of games for the better part of 30 years,

Ive been dwelling on this idea all day, and I'm just like I need to work on it but I have so many other projects already underway. 😅 I so need more hours in the day
I have begun outlining a new project; I have mentioned it before, Magical Mech Girls fighting Fascism in space.- and I am really liking what I am envisioning for it, oligarchy, a fabricated new nobility, the fash being so unsympathetic that when they fall people will cheer and flamboyant heroines

It is interesting to see Dick Cheney be memorialised as some reasonable conservative; when he was morally vacuous, one of the architects of the war of terror that has been in essence, the world for the better part of my life now. One where torture was normalised, people were detained without trial

Something i don't think we talk about enough is how being "good" at writing doesn't mean you're the best in all categories. Most of us would agree that like it or not Pat Rothfuss' prose is outstanding. However, the actual story of NotW+ is borderline puerile. Good writing can mean many things

For the people in the bleachers: you are NOT a failure if you have a PT/FT job while you pursue your creative career. You're taking care of your financials and keeping yourself afloat. There's NO shame in that, and we need to erase the mythology of the "starving" or "tortured" creator.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"
The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on
