Zohran showed up for trans people this cycle. Not just literally showing up on TDOV, but making videos about our history, acknowledging the work that's still to do, and vocalizing actual support and policies to protect us.
This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said “we should abandon the transes” needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

And a huge reminder that trans rights is a winning issue, not a wedge issue. Tell your colleagues this is the lesson to take from the losses of the gop ghouls who made transphobia a centerpiece of their campaign.

Honestly I think a lot of old people want this too!
There has to be a platform that exceeds the new deal. Free healthcare, childcare, school, more jobs, lower prices, housing, climate change abatement. You guys need to run on it and not compromise to GOP talking points. It’s what young people want, a future.

Savoring.
Savor this moment, friends.

They couldn’t buy their way to a win. They couldn’t racist their way to a win. There are more of us than them, and we fucking beat them. And we can keep beating them.

I genuinely believe this is the winning formula! Be honest, sincere, and joyful in your values! Be consistent and positive! Listen to what the real people in your district need, and come up with policy ideas to help them.

I have been interested in nutrition since my dad made me write an essay about complete protein before he’d let me be a vegetarian.

So I’ve followed various online nutrition writers. There is an observable trend where they start science based and useful and gradually descend into wing-nuttery. 1/2
Continuing to see so much blatantly anti-vaccine messaging nowadays that looks no different than foodie messaging (embraced by many legit folks) from a decade ago. If your nutrition messaging can be co-opted into an anti-vaccine tropes w minimal rewording, consider changing your nutrition messaging

This is such a fundamental truth.
It's weird how attacking the rights of any of us always winds up hurting all of us...

This does appear to be the current play book. But the only danger I’m worried about is the danger posed by the violent masked government men.
the core fascist proposition is that "your" country is being both endangered & contaminated by the non-white, the racially inferior, & sexual deviants. that effeminate elites & intellectuals are allowing this to happen. & that to survive you must surrender control to men of violence

We are the richest nation in the world, but the mere thought of someone else benefiting more than us keeps us from compassion.

If people are hungry, feed them. If people are homeless, house them. If people are sick, heal them.

If people are rich, tax them.
Honestly, I don't care what people seeking assistance at food banks do for a living, whether they work or not, what they drive, etc.

People are hungry. Give them food to eat. Plain and simple.

And that in addition to supporting hungry people, food aid subsidizes farmers! Food aid smoothes out market volatility and prevents sharp price drops at times of oversupply.
I remember an economist saying famine doesn’t happen in a democracy and, well, cutting off food stamps proves what many of us have been saying about the US now.
Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

I also think people should remember that US military service members often rely on SNAP.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I’m genuinely baffled by the rush to AI. Here’s one good reason.
Hi hate this timeline. I just shared an essay about one of the more recently publicized horrors of this tech. It's a must to share with educators:

Here’s where it gets personal for me. When I was 9, I started experiencing suicidal ideation … disinterested in living, and at least some of the time contemplating death and how it might happen … It’s easy to imagine how I would have used programs like these chatbots.

I really think this is the move!
October 22, 2025 at 3:05 AM
Tax strike is the move.
Have raised this a few times in articles and directly with a few state-level electeds. If they aren’t already gaming out how to lead tax protests, they’re falling behind. Logistically complicated, but not impossible.
If the federal Executive Branch is going to repeatedly violate the law by withholding appropriated funds that they owe to state and local governments, and the other federal branches don't stop them, at some point the state and local govts will feel compelled to withhold money they owe the feds.

I am building a parlor guitar for my daughter. For familial historical reasons, I want Adeline inlay on the rosette and fretboard, maybe even the binding. Google is showing me nothing but schlock. Anyone have any nice design inspiration? And what wood do you prefer for a parlor?

I ordered moss poles for my plants on Amazon recently. They never came. Getting a refund was wildly arduous. But I’m very curious what happened? I suspect I’m a victim of tariffs and the de minimus exemption. Will I die without a moss pole? No. But what else will we learn to live without?

This is the best corn bread, it’s naturally gluten free, and the perfect fall comfort savory bake! Mix 2 eggs and 2 cups buttermilk. In a separate bowl mix 1 cup masa harina, 1 cup cornmeal, 1 tsp each baking powder, baking soda, and table salt. Set a 10 inch skillet to warm with some butter. 1/2

“the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation”

Nothing in our country will improve until we confront this fact. The people we charge with maintaining the peace are conservative political activists.
the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

It’s very satisfying to make up, and just as you reach for your phone - your alarm goes off! A phenomenon that only happens to me now that I’m retired. When I had to get up for work it never happened.
