Find that shooting in Minnesota upsetting...

I mean I'm never a fan of shootings, but this one more than usual.

All I want to do is fight this insanity, there are so many people like me, and it feels like most of the actual elected leaders who are supposed to be channeling this desire to resist are sitting on my head scolding me. PUT US IN THE GAME

The US is collapsing into fascism and going to war with Europe and the opposition party is like “I’m here to talk about the important thing: how your average grocery bill has risen by two dollars over the last year, which I also have no plan or ability to fix”

Will having a multi post meltdown (justifiably) has actually left me feeling better about things.
He’s out of his mind, a narcissistic megalomaniac in an all-consuming spiral of self-pity and selfishness, but the truly insane people are the thousands of powerful men around him who won’t say so and continue to dance around him like this is normal, rational behavior.
(NYT) - President Trump is now claiming that one reason he is pushing to acquire Greenland is that he didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize, according to a message he sent to Norway’s prime minister over the weekend.

This will sound made up. But I reached up in the supermarket to buy 'naked' Tyrells crisps. And somehow I reached down (and bought) truffle and sea salt flavour. Oh dear, but also...

I can't help thinking this is the very opposite of Christmas swimming lessons.

Whether it's an obscure adjunct professor posting that Charlie Kirk did some bad things or it's the president of the United States celebrating Rob Reiner's death, there's plenty of incivility on both sides.

Very small door labeled 'for decoration only'. In case you though you could use it to refurbish your house?

I'm near speechless at this framing of overall immigration falling by, like, 60%
Asylum seekers now make up nearly half of net migration to the UK and the number housed in hotels has increased despite Sir Keir Starmer’s pledge to end their use ⬇️
Asylum seekers account for almost half of net migration
New statistics showed a fall in net migration as British citizens and non-EU migrants left the UK, but the number of asylum seekers in hotels has grown

Brutal
Robbie Gibb describes the BBC's Political Editor Chris Mason as the "unsung hero of covering politics" and "absolutely first rate"

I mean I don't think they could get away with this, but it's sounding pretty good this morning
I will restate my modest proposal to save the BBC: ban the BBC from covering itself.

Every BBC scandal goes huge, because every BBC News show wants to assert its independence by covering it prominently, even if several other shows already did. So it gets blanket headlines.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

I must be very very old. I googled (which probably also marks me out as old) what Singles' day is. I guess maybe if you're the TikTok generation you just know this stuff.

Medical practice has sent out invites to some kind of consultation / demo of a new smart triage system. Not against on principal but the link they sent out to register for the meeting is wrong. Easy to figure out, they missed a dot in the domain name. Not off to a inspiring start though.

I still have no idea what Number 10 was thinking intervening over policing. If they ‘win’ the standoff, Keir Starmer personally owns any incident that happens around the match. And he’s broken the precedent of interfering in operational matters, and so will be asked to do so relentlessly.

Quote post is funnier than anything I've got.

I don't get why the government seem to keep conflating Jewishness and Israel. I think they should not want that?

Also don't understand why they feel the need to get involved in stuff that's nothing do with them. Nothing else on their plate?
The Government rules that any Aston Villa player who scores against Maccabi Haifa will be arrested for antisemitism.

Went to a pub in the country today. And then left almost immediately because they weren't doing food. But they still had all the pandemic stuff. Signs about social distancing, hand sanitiser.

So are they just really into it, or just very lazy?

Human nature to assume some things will just carry on indefinitely, despite all the evidence to the contrary. The end of sub £10 cycling glasses from Decathlon has hit me hard.

Watching The Avengers movie (1998 based on the 60s show, and yes I know it's a very bad film) man in front goes 'oh shit' when Uma Thurman falls down a hole. It's not a scary scene, it's not a scary film, it was a very ott reaction
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!

Love it when Google accepts my suggestions. Usually I stick to maps. This time though I couldn't live with the movie character Dawn Wiener only showing in one Todd Solondz movie.
