I've been pondering how ENEMY OF THE STATE feels super dated in that everyone just gave up on privacy, but the "privacy good" message of the movie has maybe never been more relevant
Ring is a wildly dangerous company. Always has been. But it has sort of flown under the radar the last couple years as it tried to soften its image. Make no mistake that this is an extremely dangerous surveillance dragnet:

With Ring, American Consumers Built a Surveillance Dragnet
Ring's 'Search Party' is dystopian surveillance accelerationism.

this is so funny. People were being so generous with the speculation-- oh, the weird marketing, the anachronisms, the weird casting, this will be some sort of meta thing, or some sort of riff on the novel, and instead it's just a bad, straightforward adaptation of half the book

One of the most miserable things about living in this era is having to watch the stupidest & most arrogant people in the world have to relearn The Why of literally everything good that we collectively do the hard way.

The answer is always ‘Because a bunch of people died, fuckwit.’

FINALLY GOT IT!

I've taken well over 100,000 pelican pictures, maybe 200,000.

Over 20,000 the past month alone.

Today, I snagged "The One That Got Away"

In my infinite optimism, I give you, a very rare:

Fish success story.

Almost done with this (very good) book and it draws two pretty straightforward conclusions:

1. Humans can’t live in space

2. Billionaires are the people in the best position to solve Earth’s problems instead of hypothetical space problems but that would involve a non-zero amount of accountability

This post used to have a Community Note on it describing the dozens of emails between the two, including Kimbal Musk thanking Epstein for introducing him to a woman and a line from Epstein's bestie Boris Nikolic asking him to "not hurt Jeffrey's girl," but it's gone now.

The way she says “Latinos” in this is crazy. She should do her show in a white hood. However I want to drill down on her suggestion that there should be meat loaf at the Super Bowl
Megyn Kelly just shouting “FOOTBALL IS OURS” at Piers Morgan about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show is the perfect example of this moment in time. Put it in a time capsule and send it out into space.

the end of this is extremely weird. The climax of her speech is that superbowl sunday should feature "meatloaf, fried chicken, and an english speaking performer." what Big Game Meatloaf Tradition is she talking about lol

After 22 years as a letterer, I now only have enough regular lettering work to keep me busy for 2 days per week. So if you’re staffing a new project, please keep me in mind as your letterer! Or request me via your editor! Recent clients include DC, Marvel, BOOM, Dark Horse, 2000AD, etc.
Thank you 🙏🏻

When I worked for Reason magazine during Trump's rise to power in 2016, I was explicitly forbidden by the editor in chief from writing about Trump's racism, or the violence and racism at his rallies.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.

odd thing about THERE IS NO ANTIMEMETICS DIVISION. A lot of it reads to me like what I imagined the original intended ending of the KRAKOA era of X-Men comics would be, way back when I first read HoXPoX, and I imagined it would end with a conceptual war between artificial and biological Dominions.
