I don’t know. I imagine for some people it really was a selfish red line, that they can excuse genocide but not higher premiums. I just wonder if for some it wasn’t a red line so much as the final piece of evidence they’ll never do anything.

I think you’re right that it’s absurd, but I also think part of this is people realizing just how *little* democrats will fight for. If they can’t even fight for preserving the status quo for their constituents, this small small thing, they’ll never actually confront larger problems or horrors.

yeah, there are programs that analyze data using something like the technology ChatGPT uses that are valuable, it's just 1. ChatGPT isn't that and 2. scrolling down and looking at 20 items isn't the kind of thing you'd want to use the tech for anyway

One thing that troubles me about our current moment is we're at the point where not just people, but professional writers and critics, are losing the ability to interact with things at an extremely basic level. A child should be able to do this without an LLM.

When I pointed out that the spreadsheet in question listed the years in order, they didn't need to review all the data, they just had to scroll down, that they were asking an LLM to replace *scrolling down for a couple seconds and looking with your eyes*, they did not reply.
