It almost feels greedy but there are some The Last Waltz concert songs i do kinda get annoyed aren’t in the film for how good they are on the record. Like i I wanna see Rick blast thru “This Wheels On Fire” or see Richard and Levon harmonizing on “King Harvest”. It sounds crazy

The holidays are here and there’s something they keep making me think about: former Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol immediately failing to get away with imposing martial law this time last year, being impeached within two weeks and incarcerated within a month. I CANNOT stop laughing

RIP to MEL magazine, the only outlet that would ever dare to commission nea to write this story and the only one that would ever allow me to say something like this for it

It’s still insane to me how well “Ryuichi Sakamoto theme of a Nagisa Oshima prisoner of war film but covered in R&B style with lyrics about sipping chardonnay and being your señorita” works. It really works.

She says “ching-a-ling” no less than 4 times. And it works goddamnit.

Important Q: In which Final Fantasy game would you be most likely to encounter The Grinch as a combattable NPC? The easy answer to me is VI but i think we owe it to ourselves to probe this issue further

I am still thinking about DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH. Mostly as a piece of filmmaking, but also as a video game.

In honor of Martin Scorsese’s birthday, here’s a piece i wrote years ago about how we came dangerously close to having a TAXI DRIVER video game and why we should praise the gods that didn’t happen

The Ill-Fated ‘Taxi Driver’ Video Game That Never Was
At the height of the ‘Grand Theft Auto’ craze, someone thought it was a great idea to turn the Scorsese classic into a first-person shooter. They couldn’t have been more wrong

Danny Collins
My crackpot opinion is that, if the title of your movie is just the first and last name of your fictional protagonist, it has to be an unusual or intrinsically interesting name.

It’s so funny that he is most famous for a film like SWORD OF DOOM because Kihachi Okamoto is SUCH a comedy director at heart

Tatsuya Nakadai was one of the most prolific actors to ever grace cinema. Few other performers are vital to as many greatest films of all time as he was. When one thinks of Japanese post-war cinema, it’s inevitably his visage, his voice, his presence that come to mind
