my emerging theory is that the political press literally does not believe in objective reality in any meaningful sense. there is only what A says and what B says and how that affects the horse race

Regarding the regime, the best moral argument against political violence is that, as long as mass nonviolent resistance is an option, the bar for actually justifying violent rebellion cannot be reached.

And right now, mass nonviolent resistance is kicking fucking ass.

I feel like everyone who followed this story carefully knew that this was the role Canary Mission was playing but didn't have definitive proof yet. It's a weird feeling to just finally have something to point to.

One court decision, two different headlines.

Guardian on the left, NY Times on the right. Which one more directly conveys information and the stakes to the reader?

Social media companies explicitly favored Trump algorithmically in their content! Local media died, people stopped reading during covid, and people got their politics from scrolling reels all day algorithmically swapped and weighted towards Trump 2024!

The moment it was crystal clear we were in the worse case scenario, was exactly a year ago when Trump pardoned every single Jan 6 perpetrator, including the ones that beat the crap out of cops and were convicted of seditious conspiracy.

What a pathetic whiner. This is not an "all Jews have dual loyalty" bias, it's a "this specific dude was so into Israel that he implied he was in the IDF when he wasn't."

It’s about emboldening Americans of all stripes to stand up to him and his thugs in the streets, and ensuring the military refuses to fire on protesters when inevitably order to do so.

If you're not foregrounding that the Greenland debacle would be illegal, immoral, and requires resources that are not the president's to use then you need to get a job outside of journalism. Exact same failings as the 51st state stuff last year. These people are morons but this isn't a joke
like, none of the reporting on this has been in any way serious. what would invasion cost? what would be the costs of incorporating if greenland were willing? what’s the cost of occupation? how would any of this work legally? this is all just special birthday reporting for the make a wish president
not mentioned anywhere in this article: where and how the administration would allocate $700B from, even if greenland were willing to accept it, which they are not.
