Unlike most apps these days, Scrivener does not use AI in any way. However, if you’re on a Mac, you may see an AI prompt.

Please do not feed personal information to chatGPT. Please do not tell it where you work and live and how to get money from you.

They know that TurboTax is easier than doing it by hand and cheaper (mostly) than going to an accountant.

That accountant had to sign ethical standards. ChatGPT can’t.
TurboTax is about to be integrated into ChatGPT, where customers will be guided through tasks tied to their tax filings or financial profile by the AI chatbot.

TurboTax owner Intuit is also paying OpenAI more than $100 million a year to power AI agents.

GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

I haven’t posted in a while, but now back after deleting my X in Sept. I’m a writer, poet, & anthropologist of heritage. My piece in @aljazeera.com on the destruction of Palestinian heritage & archeology as a mechanism of power says all you need to know about my views
🏺 An extremely important article from @morganvl.bsky.social about archaeology’s complicity in the current genocide of Palestinians and why archaeologists - and the organisations that claim to represent them - must speak up and refuse to stay neutral. www.aljazeera.com/opinions/202...
Why archaeologists must speak up for Gaza
Archaeology is often a mechanism of power. As such, its scholars have an obligation to speak up against oppression.

"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

This is actually terrifying because my day job is in policy. I write it and do a tonne of consultation. The amount of academic staff - associate professors and professors etc - who argue with things that don’t exist in the text (or do! And they miss it!) is wild
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

Apropos of nothing in particular: SHOES

Per the FEMA training I took 30 years ago, the one thing that best ensures your survival in a disaster is whether you made it out of the building with shoes on.

Everything else can just be scrap-wraps, but shoes are high-tech. Put them on first, then run.

…there are a thousand explanations, the easiest of which, that 007 (and with one neuron’s leap Bond’s identity) is a code name handed to multiple agents IS IN THE FILM THEY’RE COMPLAINING ABOUT.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."
