It’s really difficult & disorienting but the feds hit LA extremely hard today. There were kidnappings all over & reported cluster raids in Chinatown, East LA, Ktown. This list shows to 1130 AM but they haven’t stopped all day

Just because the media attention stopped doesn’t mean the abductions have

Libraries need to be more vocal about the digital pricing problem. I only buy for Sora (the school version of Libby) when specifically requested by a patron. I talk a lot about why I don't buy on the regular and patrons are always shocked at the price difference. I have to pay $75 not $1.99!
Your Libby rental was free for you, but did you know it cost the D.C. Public Library $59.99?

The e-book boom (and a complicated pricing model from publishers) has left library systems strapped for cash. But D.C. lawmakers have a plan to fight back. 51st.news/ebooks-are-e...
Libraries can't afford e-books. D.C. lawmakers have a plan.
The demand and price for e-books is up — and it’s busting the D.C. Public Library budget.

#Aviary has its first trade review, from Publisher's Weekly!

"In gorgeous prose, Dong crafts a jam-packed, genre-bending story of murder, captivity, ghosts, monsters, and a harrowing escape to freedom...this grisly and tragic tale should win plenty of fans."

I'm DEFINITELY doing this for my next book. This is such a good idea and I have been thinking constantly about what marketing and community without social media means lately.
Check out my essay about promoting writers like a punk in @angrygablepress.bsky.social!
It's my call to action to use your book as a way to promote those that might not have the same reach as you.

Some of the protest signs are similar to anything else you’d see since the start of Trump 2.

Others are directed at the concentration camp guards inside.

I don't want to hear another word about "reforming" ICE.

I want you to run in the midterms on removing every dollar of funding for ICE and impeaching every fucking administration official you can get your hands on.

ICE took the flower man in Echo Park 40 minutes ago. He’s at this corner every day. I’ve bought flowers from the man and woman here for anniversaries and birthdays. Lemmy loves to smell them whenever we walk by in the mornings. I was just at the street corner 15 minutes before it happened. Fuck.

Augur Press subs are easily hitting 70-75% science fiction.

Space opera, dystopia, war scifi, AI, near-future, climate fic, solarpunk.

The writers are writing about what they hope for and fear.

Mutual aid is bustin' out all over.
Feels like society’s really broken down in the US in a way that’s deeply traumatic.

But also there are college students knocking on doors asking for shovels (they’re not well-prepared) and helping trapped motorists by shoveling and pushing out cars. Up to 24 of them now, wandering streets together

We believe that the state has the right to force you to keep a dead woman hooked up to life support for a nonviable fetus against the wishes of her family but no, we aren't fascists
I think opposition to abortion is actually a great place to situate a working definition of fascism. The baseless desire for control over the bodies of an underclass, reaffirmed as such by that control.
