LAPD’s Rampart Division’s (the one know for CRASH) social media posts are often cruel and unfunny. Like this one that features people handcuffed for a photo-op about the department’s jail. These points are more for themselves and other cops than the community.

Throughout the past twenty years [1982-2002] both critics and boosters of the new globalization predicted the demise of the state as a player of any importance. Contrary to the neoliberal propaganda coming from both major US political par-ties, the state has not withered away. Indeed, in many parts of the world, most notably in the United States, prisons and policing have provided a solid basis on which states are reorganizing themselves to help shape these times. State budgets don't shrink, but human and environmental care does. The new relations of financing, production, and distribution we call globalization are necessarily also forces that disorganize previous relations. All that was solid melts before our eyes. Structural adjustment names a wide variety of changes in how states act. As the state withdraws unemployment and health insurance, allowing rents and food prices to be driven up and wages driven down in the name of the free market, it expands policing and prisons.

Stacy Bradley voted for President Trump because of his border policies, and she likes that he has restored “law and order.” But she is unsettled by one aspect of his immigration agenda. Last month, the federal government bought a warehouse next to her cheerleading gym in Surprise, Ariz., which the administration plans to convert into a detention center for up to 1,500 immigrants. Ms. Bradley, the co-owner of Woodlands Elite Cheer, said she worried that a detainee could escape, or that protests could break out. The children who train at her gym are as young as 3 and could see “people in shackles” next door, she said.

I asked the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a public records request for its automatic license plate reader data and search audits, but they’re refusing to release them. It may take a lawsuit for them to cough it up.

The LAPD is citing truancy laws in an attempt to squash the ongoing school walkouts against ICE. The LAPD is also threatening to arrest any parents or adults who support the kids in their acts of civil disobedience.
February 16, 2026 NR26026kt Los Angeles Police Department Encourages School Attendance Amid Recent Downtown Activity Los Angeles: In light of recent activity in the downtown area, the Los Angeles Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and students of the importance of staying in school. School attendance is mandatory in the City of Los Angeles and there may be legal consequences for parents and students for: • Day time Curfew violations - It is unlawful for any minors under 18 to be in public places, streets, or amusement spots during school hours (typically 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. The only exception includes being with a parent, authorized school activities, or emergencies. • California Education Code violations: • Mandates that all children between the ages of six and eighteen, unless exempted, must attend a full-time public day school for the full designated school day. • Middle and high school students are legally permitted one excused absence per calendar year to participate in a "civic or political event," provided advance school notification (emphasis added). • Additionally, Los Angeles Unified School District policy states that three or more unexcused absences or tardies of 30 minutes or more, can trigger a School Attendance Review Board (SARB) intervention for disciplinary action. Parents and students are also reminded that presence at school promotes intellectual growth. It becomes more difficult to fill knowledge gaps with student absences. Attendance builds good habits and healthy routines; and provides structure and stability. Lastly, school attendance also increases student safety, which includes safety resources provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District. Growing up, there was one politician my dad hated more than anyone and it was Jesse Jackson. He’d always complain about him and Al Sharpton as these scary radical Black leaders who wanted to rid the world of white people. That type of political upbringing takes a lot of work to shake, glad I did it.

It’s easy to think writing is mainly the transcription of ideas you already have—that is, until you try to write something worthwhile, and you find what you thought were saying transform into something far more interesting in the process. This skips that last step, and that is *not* an improvement.

Police lie. All the time. In paperwork. To prosecutors. To the media. On the stand while testifying under oath. And even when in the very rare case their lies are exposed, they get to keep lying with few if any consequences. This pattern isn’t just limited to ICE.

And now it's on Andy Ngo's radar. The MAGA rage bait o' sphere on xitter has been particularly worked up abt the student walkouts. When Andy & his ilk have focused the patriot's eye of sauron on activities by minors in the past it has driven threats on the kids & their schools.
Andy Ngo posts footage of the dust up and arrests at the Emunclaw walkout. Writing, "At an anti-ICE, pro-open borders leftist school walkout promoted by Democrats in Emunclaw, Wash., the students were violent. Multiple instances of violence involving school students have occurred across the US at these anti-ICE walkouts."
