Found my old cd player and am digitizing some hard to find stuff. Albums and EPs by Black Tape For a Blue Girl, Curve, The Tea Party, The Creatures, and last but not least the iconic Gothic Rock anthology from 1992. The 90s were great for goth. The 90s were harsh on my eyebrows.

Reading Å hate Gud/Girls against God by Jenny Hval. I only knew Hval as a musician, now I know her as a witch of words. She does not mince them. Hate: a powerful tool in the hands of girls. Girls: ridiculed, minimized, taught they are worth nothing except perhaps what their bodies can deliver.

I’ve promised myself to write something here about aliens and faeries through the perspectives of writers like John Keel and Patrick Harpur, and I hopefully will, because it’s incredibly interesting and haunts me. Probably essay material, but who has the energy to write essays?

Today’s short read was ”How To Build A Homecoming Queen: A Guide By A Bad Asian Girl” by @tinazhu.bsky.social. I love the feeling of realizing halfway through the story that I got sucked into something deeply weird and didn’t realize, because it’s so elegantly done and multilayered. Great stuff.

It’s been a year since I left Bluesky, so coming back feels appropriate. I did some stuff, wrote some things, built a birdhouse. I don’t know how frequently I’ll be posting here but I guess we’ll find out.

So far in 2025, I have met a very sweet dog, broken my personal record in bench press, and thought (yet again) about how the divide between ”genre” and ”literary” is bullshit. I’ve also decided to try to care more about social media. We’ll see how long that lasts.

The What Magic Is This? podcast released an episode on Robert Anton Wilson. I had a flashback to when I worked in a bookshop in the late 90s and assisted him during a visit. I had read all his work and was a nervous wreck. He was very patient and kind, like an occult Santa.

Btw turns out that this is a great place to catch Mesopotamian memes apparently. Send me everything. I’ve been interested since I wrote a high school essay about similarities between Inanna, Ishtar, Cybele, Isis and the Virgin Mary and the religion teacher temp told me I’d go to hell for blasphemy.
