I was part of an effort to expose one such genius. It fell through because people were afraid to talk about it in public. Because of the possible consequences. It sucks to see that person idolized. But here we are.

Of course I believe those who speak out now. It’s a formidable act of courage to break the silence because of the cost. There are plenty more abusers, untouchable because they are beloved geniuses and because people protect them.

Reading ”The Sound of Her Wings” was a life changing experience when I was 15. Back then I did not have the knowledge I do now. Many of us have to deal with the cognitive dissonance that someone important to us has done terrible things.

Working in publishing makes you aware that abusers are everywhere. The cult of the male genius is strong and the cost of speaking up enormous. So many of your favorites are problematic. I’ve had plenty of such revelations and every time it’s ”not that one too”. By now it’s rarely a surprise.

I avoid The Cure’s Disintegration for similar reasons. Great album though.

The way I see it, there are songs that can stand alone just fine but when they are accompanied by the rest of the album, they become something more. The sum is more than the whole of its parts.

Also, youngsters, have you any idea how hard it is to figure out you’re trans when there aren’t memes to guide you?

I was so angry with Mass Effect: Andromeda for this reason. New galaxy! What do we get? Anthropomorphic bipeds.

I mean, spite is such a great driving force. I work out to outlive my enemies.

I’m a Swedish socialist so my gnomes are unionized, but it only means they band together and go on strike and then negotiations are awful and splinter groups form and oh god there are the istari again
