This is what guys like Yglesias, and everybody else making hay about Kamala supporting transition care in prisons, want to happen everywhere.
EXCLUSIVE: A forced detransition policy had disastrous effects in one Georgia prison, according to the manager of the medical unit there.

The policy is on hold due to a court order requiring prisons to re-start hormone treatments for incarcerated people in GA.

No one will ever sum up Bari Weiss's career more succinctly than "what's the point of standards"
“Standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She asks ‘What’s the point of standards?’

Strength training is political. We have a right-wing which has taken over physical fitness spaces, and hijacked “warrior culture”.

We need a muscular progressivist visions. We need to be strong to build the world we want.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
you ever think about the works progress administration? I sure do. I wish that was a thing now. I would be so glad to contribute my labor to like. A random ass local bridge

not the point of the story, and I know it's spelled differently, but "posthumus" is an absolutely WILD last name to have.

it is fascinating that "campaigning directly with your constituents and having left of center ideas" is a far more radical and threatening concept to some than secret police in the streets kidnapping people
i’m continually struck by the joy zohran has brought to this election and the absolute venom with which it’s been met.
For New Yorkers who work the night shift, it can be nearly impossible to participate in political life of our city.

So tonight we’re bringing this campaign to them — starting with taxi drivers waiting at LaGuardia.

My shattered visage lies half buried with a sandy sneering frown,
The sculptor carved my arrogance upon these broken lifeless things,
My name is Ozymandias, the self-describèd King of Kings!

Longtime readers know the true villain of American politics is the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929. Repealing this and restructuring Supreme Court are the bare minimums of fixing government in this country. Bare minimums.

(Yes, I want mulit-member districts too. Good luck trying for those.)
It's not just geography... it's the fixed number in the House. Since 1920 every new census has disadvantaged more populous states.

It's a lack of fair apportionment. Which not only means more populous states have fewer representatives, they have fewer electoral votes.
America's political geography means Democrats are naturally disadvantaged under single-member districts even if you draw fair, neutral maps. They are less efficiently distributed, perversely punished because they have *more* voters in both safe red seats and deep blue ones.

The real question is whether this will pave the way for my beloved Lawson's

(attention @talcotts.bsky.social : I am learning just now that Lawson's (my favorite Japanese convenience store) is originally from Ohio!)
The Japanese parent company of 7-Eleven is betting billions of dollars that it can expand its business in the U.S. by making its convenience stores more like the food meccas they are in Japan. nyti.ms/3KTwGve
