"Anyway, I think it's important we don't get too distracted by all this stuff about trans and abortion and landlords, and that we focus on growing the party and winning elections. Because a lot of that stuff's a bit too online, a bit too academic, it doesn't really matter to your average worker."

"So, at the end of November, that's when we'll vote on what our name and our principles and our policies should be, like whether we should support trans, which I'm sure we will. Then, in January, we'll vote for a leader. Just one. It might not even be Jeremy though - it could be a woman."

The Salt Path has never appealed to me. Redemptive memoirs are really not my thing.

But if Penguin had pitched it as an audacious heist getaway story...

We need codified legal abortion yesterday.
"Police have been issued guidance on how to search women’s homes for abortion drugs and check their phones for menstrual cycle tracking apps after unexpected pregnancy loss"

increasingly concerned and convinced a lot of people, including MPs and the people involved in making it, think adolescence is a documentary made by experts in anti misogyny
Great to meet the producers of Netflix drama Adolescence in Parliament this week to discuss what’s next for our Safer Phones campaign.

You’re telling me that right wing voters that Labour was trying to appeal to voted for a right wing party anyway and left wing voters decided not to vote for Labour because they’re too right wing now? Who could have possibly predicted this.

Considering this government's policies regarding assisted dying and PIP concurrently, it's quite clear that they want to replace the old meaning of "disabled" (someone with extra needs) with the even older meaning of "disabled" (someone we've already figured out how we're gonna kill).

I love how trans people are disabled when it's time to take our rights away but superhuman when it's time to take our medals away
Remember all that time I spent on Twitter banging on about how “gender critical” fascists keep talking about autism because they wanted the ability to deny autistic people, as well as trans people, bodily autonomy. Well, thanks to the widely discredited Cass Review, oh fuck, we’re heading there.

The BBC keep doing this. This isn't true. This is straightforwardly wrong in law. The ruling *only* applied to the Equality Act 2010. Trans women are still legally women for the vast majority of purposes! That's the whole point of the Gender Recognition Act.

I've put in a complaint. So can you.

One of my most churlish and uncharitable thoughts is irritation at how society lionises people running a long distance (most of whom already find running genetically pretty easy anyway) and marginalises people whose best is 'getting up that morning' but hey ho

crucially the most important thing to take away here is that *IT DOES NOT REVOKE YOUR EQUALITY ACT PROTECTIONS*.

The perception of you, a transgender woman, as a woman is still very much enough for you to be discriminated against and bring legal action. This is expressly stated in the ruling docs.

Tell me I'm wrong - but from my view:

@WeAreQueerAF.com is the only publisher in the UK, mainstream or queer, to work with a Trans journalist today to cover today's ruling?

Worth noting that the reason headlines concerning the case are focusing on the definition of woman is not to exclude trans men, but because that is the context in which the case was brought (specifically whether trans women with a GRC could form part of a 50% women quota).
