The Levy Review: A scathing audit of NHS Trans+ healthcare that isn’t radical enough to fix the problems.

@wearequeeraf.com and @whatthetrans.com take a first look at the long-awaited review into adult gender services in the UK 🧵

“I'm incredibly proud QueerAF and Trans+ History Week were recognised for a show mentoring Trans+ creatives to create nuanced, inspiring documentaries on millennia-old gender diversity, shutting down the pernicious lie that being Transgender is a modern 'trend'.”

We sometimes talk about 'hard-to-reach' communities in the media, but 450 Trans+ people applied for the 20 opportunities in this campaign - not so hard after all eh?

“We all have a story like that which Starmer's family faced, from horrific attacks to more common daily homophobia. Kids have thrown rocks at me, and giggled about the f*g walking down the high street.

While the leak received widespread coverage, Phillipson’s pushback barely registered in the wider press. That imbalance matters.

This regards the UK media’s bias but it’s true in the US too where big media like nyt, now joined by Condé Nast, have enabled bigotry, misogyny and predation.
“It’s a clear example of institutional bias, contributing to a climate that harms women, the Trans+ community and gender-nonconforming cis people.” - @jamiewareham.co.uk

5/ Our take @jamiewareham.co.uk

"The report relies largely on media coverage. Not every murder is reported, and in many countries trans identities are not even recorded in official reporting, making these figures an even clearer call to action."

The hearing is a huge blow to the watchdog’s reputation already.

But if it's found to have advised businesses across the UK wrongly on the law (in a way that has led organisations to break the law significant work will need to be done, for businesses to rely on it again 👇
Has the Equalities Minister changed her mind since she said the Supreme Court ruling provided "crystal clear" clarity?

In court last week, she seemed to suggest that the EHRC's guidance – was anything but clear.

What happened and why it matters 🧵👇
