🏳️‍🌈 We started @WeAreQueerAF.com as a response to the bad practices we saw while working in gay media and mainstream media newsrooms.

This is how we're modelling the change we want to see, changing the media and helping thousands understand the LGBTQIA+ news 🧵👇

"It’s unsurprising that queer activists in the British imperial core are among those on hunger strike.

"It is a dangerous strategy, but one that reflects the strength of queer and Trans+ solidarity with Palestine." 🧵

This isn't a criticism of the hunger strikers: it's a reflection of genuine fear that unless Labour has plans to add a 'Cat and Mouse Act' amendment to its Crime and Policing Bill, ministers are likely to let people die.

We have to raise public awareness for the demand that the state blinks first.
Kevin Blowe of @netpol.org told QueerAF that hunger strikes are a “very dangerous strategy”.

“It becomes a game of chicken between those people who are wondering how far they're prepared to push a hunger strike and how far the government is prepared to do nothing."

A queer activist is at the centre of one of the largest coordinated prison hunger strikes in the UK in over 40 years - and the British government is yet to acknowledge it.

Let’s look at what’s taking place with @vic-parsons.bsky.social ky.social 🧵

When we understand that our history is diverse, it changes our outlook. I hope that this Black History Month, we all take the time to uncover history lessons we were denied

"if changes must be forced on organisations that have been happily trans inclusive for decades, 'then it's clear this is the result of a handful of extremists imposing their views on groups'."

First few paras; I thought this was about Trump's America.
But seems that transphobia is trans-Atlantic.

The etymology of ‘queer’ is a pretty good analogy for why queer people seek comfort and community away from the mainstream. Noah McGarrity explains why 👇
