Just watched Bad Bunny's halftime show. It is amazing how the absolute celebration and love of Latino culture is clearly an act of resistance. It shouldn't be. It should be celebrated for the wonderfulness that it is, but in this moment? It was powerful and a whole bunch of fun.

Woah. Those Canadian Olympic outfits are well. Not good.

I think that is right, although I also firmly believe that this is something governments on the right are happy to let happen. The fact that this isn't treated as an emergency says a lot--and perhaps that a pox on all governments. But either way, the public system is on serious crutches right now.

This is a serious problem for public healthcare in Canada. If every government isn't treating this like the emergency it is, the public system doesn't stand a chance.

If you can't stand up for a fellow journalist when she's being ridiculously bullied and demeaned for asking a basic question of a public leader, you sure as hell aren't going stand up for anything as abstract as a national principle or ethos.

The sycophants and the utter lack of self-reflection (or honesty) about what that government and movement represented is utterly absurd. You would think that a newspaper with any self-respect would at least off counter-arguments to such manufactured history.
