My electrification should be complete on Monday w/ induction stove install. 9kw of PV, 20kwh batteries, new EV, electric drier. Managed to finish in time to collect tax credits, and I'm very happy. Not cheap, but similar to a kitchen remodel. Helps to live in Hawaii with ample sun and no winter.

Disagree. Building strength requires doing hard things. That's true for societies as well as individuals. JFK was responding to Sputnik, and part of his rationale for the moonshot was to build our strength as a nation. I think it worked, too.

Thanks! I don't think it's reasonable to expect to be able to afford a step up in housing without doing some saving. One interesting calculation might be the required savings rate during condo ownership that would get someone to SFH downpayment.
