Everything is the fault of foreigners, everything can be fixed by penalising foreigners. To call them Little Englanders is generous and euphemistic.
Reform’s £25bn p/a savings plan. A theme emerges:
- ending foreign aid
- increase immigration health surcharge paid by foreigners
- deport foreign criminals
- end UC payments to foreign nationals

The asylum and refugee system is supposed to be about helping people. It’s unconscionable that the dialogue has flipped into using it to punish people.

@brickcop.bsky.social I've found your spiritual ancestor.
1920s juries were not taken to crime scenes and so the murder scene of Emily Kaye in an Eastbourne bungalow was brought to them in 1924 thanks to the craft skills of PC Edward Er Onan Shelah (1890-1962) at Brixton Police Station. #CM150 #Museum30 #making #truecrime

Did any of them ever commission any crimes?
Part of me is still sad we called them Police & Crime Commissioners. Rather than Sheriffs.
Police and crime commissioners to be abolished, government to announce

Advice I received early in my career: Be loyal to your colleagues, but not the institution. Because the institution doesn't care about you.

Never truer.

Dear BBC Radio 3,

You wouldn't play Hark the Herald Angel Sing in June. It's no less jarring for you to play Bruch arrangement of Kol Nidre in November.

I took a fork to Cape Town. It had the tine of it's life.
I took a teaspoon from the office on holiday to Thailand before returning it to the drawer. I bet its teaspoon mates don't believe where it was for two weeks.

X is a cesspit led by an unhinged billionaire who is desperately trying to stir up civil war in Britain.

Nobody with any sense or decency should be there.

No organisations, government departments, or politicians should be there.

Everyone who is, is enabling this monster.

Missed opportunity to move the Royal Train over for one last hurrah on the most unlikely rail network in Europe.
The Queen going pretty trad for a papal audience with the veil, but rather elevated by (I assume) Philip Treacy to a sort of flying alice band mantilla situation. Nice that they shipped the state Bentley over too.

Getting deported for taking maternity leave seems really REALLY wrong.
"I warn you not to fall in love with someone from another country. And if you do, I very specifically warn you that she mustn't take maternity leave."
The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.

ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.

If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)

The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.

But British politics and cultural cohesion is supposed to have improved since the 1970s! We spin congratulatory narratives about wiping out the NF, defeating the BNP, the rise of multiculturalism, the decline of racism. For these ideas to be mainstream and explicit for the Tories now is shocking.

The fact that this is even seriously discussed, by frontbench politicians and in mainstream publications, shows that something fundamental has broken in UK politics. All those who look at Germany with horrified faces because of the rise of the AfD, kindly take a look in the mirror.
Dan has got it.

I sat in the British Library reading League of Empire Loyalists, BNP & National Front literature for my book and even they claimed to promote *voluntary* repatriation. Forcible deportation was always the ghost behind those ideas, but it’s amazing that UK politicians don’t even bother to hide it.
To be clear: deportations to increase cultural homogeneity is the text book definition of ethnic cleansing. Demands that come even close to this are so far outside any democratic norm and the rule of law. What has happened to a country when this is not condemned in the strongest possible terms?

If anyone thinks they know which two cases the IOPC is referring to here, I'd be grateful for a nudge, and I'll treat any suggestions in full confidence.

I've attempted to identify them via potential PFD notices and other online searches but no success so far.

I'm so far aware of x2 RCRP related deaths in the WYP area and neither of them fit the descriptions given of the two deaths in the IOPC recommendations in the links.

I'm aware of Paul Alexander and of Martin Waite so this document suggests to me, there could be two others.

Two men have now been charged with Watkins murder. We cannot of course make any comment on their guilt or otherwise, but we can deduce that they were both in prison for prior offending. The two men have been named. If you search for them online, there are two men with the same name. /1
Watkins was one of the most vile criminals I have ever read about, an offender whose depravity fell to lows even this hardened ex-prosecutor had not seen before. I am however uncomfortable with the celebrations of his murder. /1
