Firmly agree. It applies to all sorts of services too — when I spoke to crime victims about communication from the police/CPS, they really emphasised how frustrating and distressing it was to not know where your case was in the process or who was responsible for it at any given time.
I strongly believe every service that requires people to wait should beef up their information provision, whether it's waiting on the phone to a call centre, or on a waiting list for medical treatment. I'm sure it would manage people's expectations, reduce anxiety, and reduce incoming questions.

'Director Reiner'?

Who the hell speaks/writes like that? Is this some weird Americanism or an AI artifact?

Research(er) question: has any research been done on the dynamics/motivations/decision making around police asking (or not) for people to provide their self-defined ethnicity in the context of stop and search in particular, but otherwise other uses of police powers? Thank you.

I'm not saying the youngsters do not understand the old ways, but one of them just asked me where the 'printing machine' was.

My kids woke up so excited this morning for the first night of Hannukah and now yet again we have a festival where I’m very conflicted about whether it’s safe to take them to synagogue to celebrate. Communities shouldn’t have to live like this.

It would be nice if 90% of my conversations with my rabbi weren't: me telling him that someone has murdered Jews as they prayed, him tell me that someone has murder Jews as they prayed, or use discusing how to stop someone murdering our congregation.

But we are perfectly willing to grant her the title of 'No. 1 Laughing Stock of the United Kingdom for Great Britain and Northern Ireland'.
Wow. Everything, from font to seal to layout, is an attempt to brand her as a former President. 56th Prime Minister? We don't do that.

It's so striking, when you use the NHS regularly how some bits are total choas with staff run off their feet and rhen others are clearly overstaffed with few patients. Not much rhyme or reason to it.

Everything is the fault of foreigners, everything can be fixed by penalising foreigners. To call them Little Englanders is generous and euphemistic.

- increase immigration health surcharge paid by foreigners
- deport foreign criminals

@brickcop.bsky.social I've found your spiritual ancestor.
1920s juries were not taken to crime scenes and so the murder scene of Emily Kaye in an Eastbourne bungalow was brought to them in 1924 thanks to the craft skills of PC Edward Er Onan Shelah (1890-1962) at Brixton Police Station. #CM150 #Museum30 #making #truecrime

Did any of them ever commission any crimes?
Part of me is still sad we called them Police & Crime Commissioners. Rather than Sheriffs.

I took a teaspoon from the office on holiday to Thailand before returning it to the drawer. I bet its teaspoon mates don't believe where it was for two weeks.
