You will be visited by three spirits. By four spirits. Tonight you will be visited by five...six spirits.

Merry Christmas! On my way to the butchers to get the biggest goose in the shop, been saving up all year. I assume nobody else will suddenly purchase it out from under me

A Christmas Eve visitation from an exciting and luxurious new local cat

I think as a Christmas game everyone should watch #AllsFair and try and find something awful that no-one else has mentioned yet. It's a target-rich environment.

I'm nominating the decision to have Naomi Watts mostly, but not consistently, use her natural accent.

In the hope that there will be some #BookSky people around in the run-up to Christmas, I am seeking recommendations for the best single volume history of what is normally known as the #Vietnam War. I have read quite a lot on the Secret War in Laos but need more context. Reposts / tags welcome. 🙏

I decided it was a perfect watch for this evening and the line "let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy!" and Sigourney Weaver's delivery are just perfect, perfect things.
Galaxy Quest - a perfect movie, just a wonderful love letter to actors, sci-fi, Star Trek in particular, and to fandom - really deserves a proper physical release with decent extras. Think Weaver's right that releasing a R-rated cut would be fun, too.

Sigourney Weaver reflected on cult classic Galaxy Quest and how she wishes the sci-fi satire had released an R-rated director's cut.

Reminded of the immortal letter from Nöel Coward to Rebecca West when the Nazi round-up-and-execute list for their planned invasion was published, "...my dear, the *people* we'd have been seen dead with".
Thinking of the actor Ernest Thesiger, who, when asked what it had been like in the trenches of World War One, replied "my dear, the noise! And the PEOPLE!"

Tête de Moine, plus special curler thing. Delicious but also fun

Party outfit tho. Casablanca shirt, Stefano Pilati for Zara jacket, Dries Van Noten jeans, Ferragamo shoes

This morning's outfit an accidental coordinated look I bought the parts of 6 months apart. First time trying together (just to the shops for ice) and I think last time.

Started watching F1: The Movie and it's not super. I enjoy the incredibly obvious way that they use the commentators for exposition. It's incredibly unsubtle and badly sound mixed. Sounds like a DVD commentary

The further into this article one reads the more misguided this sequel starts to appear. It's practically satire when they start talking about the new love interest

The ultimate is the 1942 Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire vehicle Holiday Inn, which gave the world "White Christmas" but also includes a full song and dance number in blackface and a "Mammy" stereotype housekeeper appearing only in discrete scenes that could be cut easily for Southern audiences.
Me (getting ready to go out) I’ll stick on a favourite film! ‘White Christmas’

The antisemitism on Twitter is viscerally unpleasant and often tinged with violence. The antisemitism on here (see Rachel's replies) is more profoundly and personally depressing.
I'll say it again: if any other ethnic or religious minority said "please don't use this particular term or chant, you might not have bad intentions but it is deeply racist and threatening to us", the reaction would be mortified apology.

And that's without a mass terror event four days ago
