This is just churning through my brain now now much better the ending of TLJ could have been, and how far it would have freed them up for RoS too
Where I will always be a massive hater of TLJ is that they had a YEAR between Carrie Fisher's death and release to swap her and Holdo's deaths. They'd have to do some fakery to do it but not much, and not doing it committed them to more in the last one, and a rebel HQ with no compelling character.
