Did you know that in 1931 President Coolidge gave his pet canary to a cat? Not as a snack but as a little friends! This #caturday read the story of Timmie, the bird-loving cat who befriended presidents and became a D.C legend.
Timmie the Cat | Pet Cemetery Stories
Timmie was, by all accounts, and extraordinary cat. For one thing, he loved birds. Most cats would rather eat them than befriend them. But Timmie would let them perch on his head or his back.

Do dolphins have names? Well not exactly, but scientists recorded wild dolphins and played their signature whistles back to them. The dolphins responded to their whistles but ignored unfamiliar ones — knowing that they specifically were being called.
Dolphins Can Call Each Other, Not by Name, But by Whistle
The discovery that a dolphin can imitate the signature whistle of another offers a glimpse of how these marine mammals converse

The Great Emu War is a piece of history that sounds like fiction. Australia sent soldiers with guns to cull emus damaging crops, but the birds split up into small groups, stayed out of range, and outlasted the military. It took a while but farmers eventually outsmarted the supposedly dumb bird.

The J in Michael J. Fox stands for Andrew. He changed his name because he was worried people would say it sounded too much like "Michael, a fox"… While I hate lies, I'm still a big fan of his movies.

I was today years old when I learned Mt. Everest's height has changed three times. In the 1850s the mountain was measure to be 29,000 feet, but they added 2 feet to make it sound more believable. With today's technology we know it's 29,031.7 feet, standing taller than ever.
Is Mount Everest Really Two Feet Taller?
The new height measurement comes from an updated survey and decades of slow tectonic movement, not a sudden growth spurt

It takes strength to exercise restraint in a time of strength so a force can't defeat you in a moment of weakness. You might block distracting apps so you can focus when you need or commit to goals publicly so you're held accountable, and it turns out there's a name for that: a Ulysses Pact.
Ulysses pact - Wikipedia
A Ulysses pact or Ulysses contract is a freely made decision that is designed and intended to bind oneself in the future. The term is used in medicine, especially in reference to advance directives…
