Hello to New Followers from the Arlington Cemetery/Website purge story! Drop me a line to say hi!
If you need to restore your faith in Arlington and its people, I wrote this story last year about an Army general and the Tomb of the Unknown.
taskandpurpose.com/news/tomb-of...
An Army general's final 'walk' at the Tomb of the Unknowns
William Zana, the only guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to reach the rank of general, took a final shift on his last day in the Army.

Sam Darnold beat Penn State in the Rose Bowl to prevent that team from completing its post-Sandusky resurgence.

Now he can keep the most MAGA-adjacent professional sports team from being "back" in the Super Bowl.

Sam Darnold.. welcome to the resistance.
Sam Darnold reached the pinnacle of the NFL not as an obstacle or accessory but as the driving force of the best team in the NFL.

In two weeks, the top-seeded Seahawks will enter Super Bowl LX as a favorite over the New England Patriots.
Sam Darnold, ghosts long behind him, takes Seahawks to Super Bowl
In a showdown of quarterbacking brilliance, Darnold outgunned Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game, 31-27.

NYTs literally pulled a Chernobyl-"not great, not terrible" on a football tv show because there is nothing else to write about out there in the world, I guess.
From @theathletic.com: CBS commentators Jim Nantz and Tony Romo weren’t particularly entertaining or insightful, but they weren’t terrible during Sunday’s AFC Championship Game. "Being unremarkable is a victory at this point," our columnist writes. nyti.ms/3NDkq3s
Tony Romo and Jim Nantz were unremarkable. That’s a win for CBS these days
No game-ending gaffes for the broadcast duo this year, but there was one notable first-half snafu.

Hate to keep bumming everybody out, but very sad accident report on a hh-60 at kadena. Bad planning killed a 60-year-old school teacher with rotor wash.

Yeah i have to tell you:

any anecdotal evidence of "people i NEVER WOULD HAVE EXPCETED are posting anti-ICE on Facebook" are vastly overstated.

The Bad App is a churning ocean of "He brought a gun to a protest, game on!" and "why can't we find the source of all this funding!"

hasn't moved an inch
these right wing clowns continuing to express absolute shock over the organizing of the left also reflects a deeply sexist ignorance of the fact that EXPERIENCED, INCREDIBLY EFFICIENT AND HARDWORKING VOLUNTEERS, PRIMARILY WOMEN, RUN THE FUCKING SHOW WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING GOOD IN THIS COUNTRY
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

Apparently this post over on the bad site has blown all the way up to the top of the News. X list, whatever that is. But that's definitely better than what I would expect on something called News x, so go click on it cuz it's fantastic
ROOMBA SNOWBLOWER!!!!

I take back all those words I said, A.I.

We need to talk seriously for a second:

IF Graham whats-his-name, the Maine candidate with the Nazi tattoos, steps up this week, well, are we going with words or deeds, ya know?

"We're Here! No NIIT for net earners about $250! Get Used to it!"

- Bessent's 'Billboard,' probably
1. Wasn’t at a protest
2. Was disarmed when they shot him while he was face down
3. New gun rights rule: the second amendment is when conservatives can carry guns everywhere, but if anyone else has a gun we can kill him on sight

bsky.app/profile/atru...
KARL: He was an ICU use who worked for the VA and there's no evidence he brandished the gun whatsoever

BESSENT: But he brought a gun

KARL: I mean, we do have a Second Amendment

BESSENT: I've been to a protest -- guess what? I didn't bring a gun. I brought a billboard

Just saw a person i like very much on The Bad Site complaining that she can't get "news" about - YA KNOW, EVERYTHING! - without "subscribing or without ads."

YOU GOTTA DO THE ADS!!!!!!

otherwise you are just getting information from whoever can pay the most to put it in front of you.

I was a sensitive kid. I loved cats. I had OCD, undiagnosed.

When I was 9, a fraternity brother tortured a cat to death in my hometown. The details even now are beyond imagination. archive.is/xdmUL

I was traumatized for years from reading the news story.

The torturer? Now the head of the NRA.

I remain absolutely furious that all this shit in Minneapolis started because a barely-literate homeschooled mormon made a video trying to run up in daycare centers trying to find people of Somalian descent doing fraud despite the ringleader (a white woman) being in jail since March. Demonic.

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

At the very least, its the EQUIV of if the cops had killed Kyle Rittenhouse when he parked his car.

like, it's AT LEAST THAT.

Holy shit.

his name is Keaton Wagner. Freshman. Most points scored in the road game by a freshman in the Big 10 since 2009.

They just interviewed him.

I CANNOT EXPRESS STRONGLY ENOUGH HOW MUCH HE LOOKS 11 YEARS OLD.

46 on the road vs Purdue. Yikes.
just tuned in to see end of Illinois beating Purdue 88-82 (was 2pt game late but Ill made free throws to pull away).

One Ill kid scored 46.

idk, that's no fun, right? "he's super good, and nothing else is gonna matter tonight..." its the youth sports trap. nothing 'wrong' with it, but lame
