my dad didn’t go to university and he was extremely happy to pay taxes for his four children to do so; and, indeed, for the doctors who treated him at Addenbrookes to have gone to university as well.

contra the way this is being reported, her claim here is being partially upheld *purely* on the basis that the board didn't adhere to proper procedure. the case also found that dr upton was *correct* in saying that peggie had harassed her, and that upton had the right to be in the changing rooms.
Sandie Peggie's claims against Upton dismissed & most of her claims against NHS Fife are dismissed. Questions remain for NHS Fife over the process they pursued, which led to Peggie's harassment claim being partially upheld.

Ministers now appear to be confirming in broadcast interviews that they would audit and could confiscate assets (including jewellery) excepting wedding rings from the jewellery that they could confiscate.

A big part of the problem with the "Brontë country" conversation is that we've been conditioned to see scenery like the photo below and think "ooh lovely countryside" and not "yikes, an ecological wasteland with almost no plant life left thanks to centuries of relentless livestock farming".
