My Twitter/X account is no longer active. The campaign and I made the decision that we cannot stand behind a company-owned and manipulated by a fascist oligarch, containing a dangerously unregulated AI platform, and not reflecting the values of our green-progressive campaign or its supporters.

CAF already in Greenland under American command for NORAD.

Now we may deploy more troops to Greenland for a notionally anti-American mission.

Centrism, baby!

Canada needs to get in on this in a robust way, and show support for Greenland, Denmark, and other northern European allies, for two important reasons: 1) It's the right thing to do. 2) We could very well be next.
Sweden’s Prime Minister, in a new statement on Greenland:

“We will not let ourselves be blackmailed… Sweden is now having intensive discussions with other EU countries, Norway, and the United Kingdom for a coordinated response.”

Perhaps he's an economic genius, but he doesn't seem to be one in international relations.

We need a leader with moral courage right now.
God, I wish Carney was an evil genius. It would be so much less embarrassing than him being a goddamn sucker.

Somebody had to say it: doubling down on fossil fuels while the global energy transition continues (Trump can't stop it) is like investing in Blockbuster just as Netflix arrived. Great stuff here from UBC's @mk49.bsky.social & David Boyd: calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu... #cdnecon
Opinion: Alberta’s oil economy has 10 years before electric takes over. It’s time to invest in the future.

China's December numbers are in, and battery-electric cars made up 35% in December and 33% for the year. Plug-in hybrids made up another 21% for the year for a total "new-energy" share of 54% in 2025.

If whatever is holding Carney back from upsetting the US ever gives way, that will be a hell of a news day: China EV tariff lifted, Twitter banned, F-35 cancelled, etc.

Update: the new mayor of Montreal, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, has cut this program.
Inspired by programs in European countries like Finland, the City of Montreal now offers a “baby box” to new parents, distributed through libraries.

A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

My latest for Slate
You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

What would Canadian MPs stand to lose by leaving X?

Do Canadian MPs actually connect with the public on X?

I looked at RTs and views for every tweet* sent by Liberal MPs yesterday

Out of 46 tweets, 21 Liberal MPs racked up a combined 475 retweets

34% had zero RTs. Only 17% got more than 10 RTs

3 tweets accounted for over half of all engagement
