man i don't know what to say anymore. i'm tired of sharing this kind of stuff but you gotta stand up for trans people or you're standing up for no one at all. i or any other trans person shouldn't have to spend our time wondering if we'll have any rights in a few years

Even some of the most educated ppl have NO idea what AI is doing to energy use & the environment. My husband works in EPA permitting of factories & energy facilities, and they are getting SO many requests for permitting data centers. We're gonna AI ourselves into rapid environmental collapse.
I know academics who use AI regularly, for work and play, and I'd really like them, and universities, to tell me how they contend with AI's bottomless appetites for power and water.

Is asking ChatGPT to interpret a Xmas song or making it write your syllabus worth this to you?

I was in a store yesterday and a woman collapsed and hit her head on a shelf, cutting her head open. We stopped the bleeding while the clerk called 911. When the ambulance showed up, the woman didn’t want to go to the hospital at first bc she was worried about the cost. Picture unrelated.

Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

Since I know there’s overlap but not a ton between shoujo sky and the #LolitaFashion folks—

Takahashi Macoto, a pioneer of shoujo manga, passed away today (11/19/24) at the age of 90, after a fight with cancer.

We know him from his classic covers for GLB featuring his iconic big starry eyes.

Once upon a time, not the entire internet was 4chan. Only 4chan was 4chan, because everywhere else would kick you out for Doing 4chan in their spaces.

It sounds utopian, but it is true.
When social media sites tell you moderation has limits I want you to know there was a time when you could only find the worst people on obscure forums created for being offensive because everywhere else moderated them into those corners.

When I had a violent stalker who would graphically describe how he would have me gang raped, puncture my organs and and break all my bones, I was told the police "couldn't do anything".

Consider this a reminder that they absolutely ✨can✨ do something.

They just don't care about YOU.

1. I have released my first post-election anti-trans risk assessment map.

The national risk is high due to potential Republican national policies targeting trans people.

DC has slightly increased in risk. Wyoming and Georgia go up as well.
