21 years ago a single submarine of Swedish Navy sneaked past the extensive anti-submarine shields and sank air craft carrier USS Ronald Reagan in an exercise.

Sweden has since refined the stealth properties of the Gotland-class submarines and a newer class is under construction.
Swedish Radio program Gräns did an interview with commander Paula Wallenburg, top brass of Swedish submarines, guardian of Gotland depths.

She was also part of the crew that sank Nimitz-class carrier USS Ronald Reagan in an exercise in 2005.

Worth a listen!

The Europeans have done all they can to try and make this proposal serious and credible, but a serious and credible ceasefire enforced by western forces is the exact opposite of what Putin wants, because Putin's objectives for the total capture of Ukraine remain unchanged.

After four years – equivalent to all of the US Civil War or almost all of WW1 - it’s no closer to this goal than it was in 2022. There’s no reason to think that Russia, with a weaker economy, will do in 2026 or 2027 what it was unable to do in 2022-2025.

Strange story. Kapustin's "death" was a pretty big deal in the Russian press. Will they now renew the bounty on his head, or will they insist he is still dead?
Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) faked the death of Denis Kapustin, commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), and claimed the bounty placed on his head by Russia's intelligence service, HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov revealed on Jan. 1.

Russians sunk several barges at the entrance of their naval port pier in Novorossiysk, so that no other Ukrainian drone can enter it.

This also confines the remnants of the Russian Black Sea Fleet to this little basin. Russians literally barricaded themselves. Embarrassing..

I’m just an armchair expert, but the window of opportunity for Russia is about 2028-2030. They can rearm sufficiently to pull a repeat of Georgia by then, and Europes rearmament won’t be ramped up until 2030-31ish.
The challenge with the 5 years being communicated for NATO members to get ready is that with Russia’s logic it provides them with a deadline of less than 5 years. It should be 2 years to underline urgency and then focus on what European members critically lacks.
NATO Chief Mark Rutte urged member countries to do more to prepare for the possibility of large-scale war, warning that Russia may be ready to attack the alliance within five years.
