Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

This is the message of a failed, feckless, and leaderless party. We need a party with backbone, and the only path to it is through a cleansing primary season. If your Dem is up for reelection, and you aren't damn sure they're fighting the fascists with everything they've got, primary the bastard.

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

This has been clear for years and has only become clearer: we need a page-one rewrite of Dem party leadership. Primary all of the centrist/establishment ghouls, replace them with people that will actually fight and bring about change
it’s moments like today that make it really clear that it was imperative for zohran mamdani to oust andrew cuomo and prevent all these republican-lites from controlling anything

The rumors are true: scrolling through Zohran’s transition website and seeing that his co-chairs so far are eminently qualified women of color is a great way to feel like better things are possible

If you tell your constituents that there are people you are willing to throw away, on some level they are hearing that, under future circumstances, they can be thrown away too. It’s abuser manipulation and there’s already a political party for people who want to live with that way.
For @msnbc.com I wrote about how Tuesday's election gives Democrats the blueprint for overcoming Republican anti-trans attacks and how thus should settle all the talk about throwing trans people under the bus.

Opinion | Democrats’ election wins showed they don't need to hide their support for trans rights
Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

It’s almost like if people tell you that to win you have to turn your back on poor people, or Muslims, or trans people, or immigrants, you can just say, “no, that’s immoral, we’re not doing that,” and keep doing good old fashioned organizing and campaigning and things will be ok

If at least 26 billionaires can waste at least $27 million trying to defeat Zohran Mamdani, then those same billionaires can afford to pay an extra 2% on their income over $1 million to make New York a better, thriving city for everyone — including themselves.

3. It Won't Happen
4. It's Unlikely To Happen
5. It Must Not Happen
6. *%&&*Q$#!!

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

I knew that Mamdani had it; he had the people and did the work, and has been the clearest and most lucid in rejecting the untenable current state of things. But the vile, bigoted shit against him was so constant, and I am conditioned to that working better than I want. This feels like an exorcism.

Cuomo gave the worst concession speech I've ever seen. I guess it's a technicality since Trump never actually conceded in 2020 but still that was disgusting. Hopefully he's remembered as a bitter creep that people hated.
