Someone on TikTok pointed out that bad bunny has more monthly Spotify listeners than trump has voters
“Bad Bunny’s performance isn’t just the story of the ascendancy of a single performer, or of one genre,” Noah Shachtman writes. “It’s the sign of something bigger still. America’s pop culture is today multilingual, polycultural and international at its very core.”
Opinion | The Culture War Is Over. Bad Bunny Won.
American pop culture is global pop culture, and vice versa.

There seems to be a not insignificant number of people in the Epstein Files who hold prominent positions at colleges.

Yet, there’s no uproar over what these elites are teaching students. Or how many of them overlook sexual assault on their own campuses.
BREAKING: Bard College President Leon Botstein’s name appears in the Epstein files more than 2,500 times, including arranging travel to Epstein’s island and hosting a visit with “girls” on campus…

As a Bard student parent, I demand Leon Botstein’s immediate removal.

When your representative says "Don't talk to me about my own morality," I suggest talking to them about their own morality INCESSANTLY.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”
DeLauro to pressing clergy: 'I will not vote to abolish ICE'

What else can this unnamed "staffer" post from the President's account in the middle of the night?

Can they declare war? Can they order a nuclear strike? Can they speak for the President in his diplomatic communications with foreign leaders?

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

We all know that before 2016 any prominent person who shared that video would've been pressured into resigning their position and hounded out of public life. The only reason that doesn't happen now is because, these days, the people who would do the hounding -- the press, politicians -- are cowards.

the biden border bill and choosing to run on a “border patrol endorsed” piece of legislation should go down as not only cowardly and backward thinking but one of the worst strategic political decisions by democrats in recent memory, everyone involved should be out of politics forever

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

There's a great scene in "Citizen Kane" which explains this, and Bezos has wealth orders of magnitude greater than Charles Foster Kane did. If he wanted the Post to be a good newspaper he could do it with pocket change, basically forever. bsky.app/profile/jack...
always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments, not just the newsroom, is being laid off.

In my opinion these people are the real heroes of the resistance to ICE. There’s no credit, no one can talk about their work (because they directly contact vulnerable families). It’s expensive and dreary and neverending. ICE follows them around. But they refuse to abandon their neighbors

Americans have been so poisoned by TV copaganda slop that it largely doesn't register to them that police officers are not supposed to point guns at people

guns are in principle not a tool of law enforcement, they are a tool of self-defense that we allow law enforcement officers to have
happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.
