Why should "keep baseball on the field" be on the players if there's a lockout enforced by the owners? As a reminder, even if the bargaining agreement expires, baseball can still continue without a contract, as it did in 1994 before the strike. Canceling games is the owners' choice.
@JeffPassan tweeted
For all the salaciousness of Tony Clark's resignation, it offers MLBPA an opportunity to be a force for good and help keep baseball on the field in 2027. Free at ESPN: How creativity and open-mindedness from the players can save the game from doomsday. https://t.co/L2gEcmDDQd

Huge Wilson apologist, but wouldn't have him in the top spot over Jones. But Darnold over Kam and Earl Thomas is so bad it kinda hurts. I know these lists are just clickbait and have no meaning, but, they got me. bsky.app/profile/camo...
idk this is wild

Coastal Carolina RHP Cameron Flukey will not make his scheduled start this weekend, per sources. It is a precautionary measure and the issue is not with his arm.

Flukey is a projected top 10 overall pick for the 2026 MLB Draft.

Gosh damn Josh Hubbard is fun to watch. Missippi State hasn't been relevant in basketball in like 25 years, but Hubbard makes them a must watch.

This is why your team loses, not a salary cap
According to MLB front office types in The Athletic’s annual survey, the worst signings of the offseason were the ones where good players got paid. www.nytimes.com/athletic/704...

I'm telling you guys, this is so much more common than you think. So so much more common. I don't drink coffee, but I have flight attendant friends that have warned me. That coffee maker might as well say Whirlpool on it.

They're that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry always breaks even, only you don't have to worry about Pittsburgh dating teenagers.

I’m not sure that claim is ar all true, and even at that, a baseball player’s first contract often lasts ten years.

Catcher Mitch Garver and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on a minor league deal, sources tell ESPN. Garver, 35, spent the last two seasons with the Mariners and will compete for the backup catcher job to AL MVP runner-up Cal Raleigh.

I have been buying into breaks like an idiot for a long time, but I have never hit a (literal) Kaboom until this week. It's a good one too.

I was ready to commit human rights violations after The Rise of Skywalker, and if you like that movie, I think you're a bad person. Only Taylor Swift can respond to this skeet.
fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

It's a good thread.
Here we go again. "We need a salary cap because then we'll finally have the competitive balance that other leagues have but is missing in MLB." Updated these numbers...

Awesome hockey game. Both goalies have been nails. A shame this is happening in the quarters instead of the semis.

I will be rooting for the Nationals now. If they play the Mariners in the World Series I'll have to make a tough decision. One of the best people in the world. So happy for him.
I’m using the past tense because Friday will also mark my final day as an active writer. I’ll always love and hold the craft dear, and I’ve been lucky to have this career. But it’s time for me to take on a new challenge. That’s why I’ve accepted a position in the Washington Nationals front office.

Programming note: Friday is my final day at CBS Sports (though you may see my byline pop up on prewritten items.) My decision, no one else's. I’ve loved my time and my team there. Mike Axisa, Dayn Perry, and Matt Snyder were doing great work before me, and they’ll continue to do so after me.

Saw headline and thought, "Oof, guess they didn't like the return of Scrubs!" But subhead said "older, wiser and funner," so I Google'd "rude health UK meaning" and turns out it means "someone who is exceptionally robust, strong, and in very good health."
