Why I hate Gavin Newsom: a thread
In 2021, our county experienced a catastrophe. The Dixie Fire started in July, and by the beginning of August had burned hundreds of thousands of acres and the towns of Canyondam, Indian Falls, and Greenville.
Most of the food that is grown in California is grown in red counties.

Also timber, cattle, and for CA: WATERSHEDS.

The urban/rural pissing contest needs to just stop. Rural counties need the markets for their crops and extractive industries. Urban areas need the food and fuel.
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

LOL. I knew I was tempting fate last time I was telling someone that I never get jury duty, but my very busy husband does.

Summons in the mailbox.

And this is why most of us just want universal healthcare. I’d rather pay taxes to the government than pay thousands to CEO bonuses while people don’t get care.
Tell me you don’t understand risk pools without telling me you don’t understand risk pools

People will already be paying those thousands in subsidies or will have lost coverage. January is pointless.
The centrist argument will probably be: this is a short term (Jan 30) extension and if we don't see real movement on the ACA subsidies by then we can shut it down again. We will keep the ACA subsidies as a key issue in a election year. But not sure there will be appetite to go through this again.

Here’s a hawk.

Frankenstein was absolutely perfect.

I did have to close my eyes at some of the worst surgical stuff because I’m a wuss.

Once again sandbagged by Camp Fire memories on FB. 7 years ago yesterday, but all of the horrific posts are from today because we were without power or cell up here.

“There is no more prayer in front of building or inside the building because this is the state and it’s not [of a] religious background.”

Yeah the prohibition is the state leading prayer. Not people praying. This isn’t difficult.

Another recipe blog gone.

I will be SOL if Paprika goes down. So many recipes I’ve saved are from sites that no longer exist.

Today, I managed to do something I have procrastinated on for a month.

Parent part of FAFSA is done for the kiddo.

Before I actually did it, I was out adding paint to a Halloween sign that I’ve been meaning to touch up for years.

I really wish foundations would consider small nonprofits.

Tiny ones.

The large ones have lots of big, corporate donors. The small ones don’t.

Maybe Keith should’ve not blown off the League of Women voters event. Or actually written a candidate bio. Or shown up to any of the school board meetings.

This is a hilarious shellacking.

(I won’t be completely calm until the 12th though)

Today’s update widened the gap to 398 votes. Won’t be official until the 12th.
Asshat school board candidate is down 371 votes right now. Elections department got 219 in the mail today and another 54 which were dropped off on Election Day after they emptied it but before the polls closed.

Hoping that deficit holds.

They’re worried.
