At last we have a better name for it: The Two Big Beautiful Bidets Bill.
The interior of Kristi Noem’s new billionaire-class luxury jet is complete with two bidets and a wet bar with a wine chiller. It will be purchased on our dime from the slush fund Congress approved in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Let Them Fly First Class: Kristi Noem’s DHS Luxury Jet Scandal
Inside Noem's flying palace. Plus: Pentagon demands obedient, deadly AI. The race to deploy untested nuclear reactors. Lawmakers move to rein in presidential pardons. And remembering Robert Duvall.

Does John Tory realise that if he runs again for mayor he will be opening himself up to endless questions about the incredible shrinking Smart Track? Was supposed to be 22 stations (14 new), open in 2022. Now it’s three or four new stations, open who knows when
Well now Metrolinx has removed King-Liberty from their list of ongoing projects. So glad the City of Toronto decided to defund it and dare Metrolinx to cancel it. Great work everyone.

Rozsa the aged calico cat thinks it's stupid when I stick a needle into her scruff (for subcutaneous fluids, but it's tolerable because she gets to sit on my lap. No fussing after either (as here).

So the Constitution requires us to abolish ICE. Cool cool cool.
Rep. Mark Alford: "If you tie a judicial warrant to what ICE is doing, it will never happen"

What an absolutely amazing opportunity from @sdforg.bsky.social and the interim computer museum. If you are in or around the Seattle area, this is a extraordinary opportunity to build a PDP 11 simulator with a group of like-minded folks over two caffeinated days icm.museum/blog/?p=446

A good answer here would be "No, I do not think President Trump is racist. I observe that he is racist."

do you know what would help!!!!!!!! living in a society that lets people experiment with their gender without treating it like the most important thing in the world!!!!!!! letting people get it right or wrong without politicising their decisions!!!!!!! just being chilled about gender!!!!!! aaahhhhhh
"if they socially transition too early we think they can get locked onto a trajectory that may not have been the correct natural trajectory for them"

The point is--Generative AI is being used to create fake additional content for even niche historical topics, like the exhibits within a World's Fair pavilion. These images are going to continue to get more realistic. It's dissipointing to have to add this new layer of vigilance to research.

If a historic photo comes from an unreliable or sketchy source--or you've only seen it shared social media--maybe don't share it? At present we can (mostly) tell when photos are dupes, but its going to get harder and harder.

alt text a closeup of the text on the towel vending machine listing the $20 fee for not returning towels

lots of hotels put RFIDs on towels and even bed sheets; it's less about stopping guests from stealing them and more so the laundry can't lie about how many towels and sheets they sent back
"Microchip technology in every towel!"

“Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley called the province’s letter “arrogance” and a “huge intrusion” into local government.”

Maybe other parts of Ontario are waking up to what Toronto has known since 2018. Doug Ford’s fetishes are your burden.
Ontario mayors are worried about soaring cost of law enforcement. Doug Ford says they can’t touch police budgets
A letter from the province warned municipalities that strong mayor powers do not include the ability to limit police budget increases or veto estimates of individual line items.
