Reminder that in 2023 alone, documented 'legal' immigrants generated about $1.7 trillion in economic activity and paid roughly $652 billion in taxes, much of that from small businesses.

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

I cannot stress enough to people who are not from Minneapolis that the news you have seen in the past week about things calming, and messaging from our electeds at *every level higher than City Council* that local agencies will protect us... That's all fucking LIES.
Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt needs to stop assisting ICE. It’s very clear that the sheriff’s department has been harassing, intimidating, arresting and coming out in force to assist ICE. They have been using force against neighbors who are working to protect our immigrant neighbors. 2/

ICE detention standards allow for detainees to “maintain ties with their families through emergency staff-escorted trips into the community to visit critically ill members of the immediate family or to attend their funerals,” acc to its website. But they did not do so
