Oh, I didn't really clarify the current state of the breach.

There's a forum that ransomware groups post on which contains a "marketplace"

"Kazu" has a forum thread up advertising the breach, the size of the breach (108GB), the number of files (428,337) and a random amount ($60K) with a deadline
Kazu, the group/individual behind the ManageMyHealth breach, has posted some samples of the data for verification and they all appear to be legitimate.

Among other things, there are test results (ie; Labtests), referral letters, patient health summaries, hospital ED summaries and other letters

Long term, we need some political leadership and regulation around how much patient info is being stored and for how long in systems like this, and what oversight and enforcement is their of security and privacy.

Short term, they have restricted access to their site so (1) there is no point in trying to do password etc changes right now (2) that does not stop the patient information being out their being put to misuse.
Medium term, even if cybercriminals are not respecting our privacy, we should respect...

...but at this stage I think assuming the worst is reasonable.
There is speculation around "what if your practice uses it but you have not activated an account" which I have not seen any definitive answer around if MMH holds any data in those cases.

From files released, we collectively know the stolen data includes very intimate patient details.
We do not know how many people are affected at this stage. We know the company claims to provide access to 1.85 million kiwi's medical records, and around 580 medical practices...

Here, at time of writing (first minutes of 2026) is what I understand to be the case about the Manage My Health data breach. I am writing this out as a what I know and why (and don't know) as of now to help anyone trying to explain this to others.
This is a data breach with stolen patient data.

I can simultaneously think dropping it is a waste given lack of any equivalent I can think of, and also think a lot more could have been done with it if it had gotten any output funding. As the nationwide large scale panel sample leading indicator, I think it useful to fund more.

What an utterly dim decision.

But if you happen to know of a great local store that you think would be a great stockist for us, please slide me a DM!
