I love that there's people who think this matters anymore. They shit all over their own base's meaningful quality of life and financial interests with the tariff stunt. You think they give a shit?
Trade wars are about causing and enduring pain.

The US can do the former, but the public has absolutely no appetite for the latter over an issue as clearly invented as Greenland.

This is the kind of stunt you can try at 58% Presidential approval and on an issue the public supports. This ain't it.

Many Jewish supporters of peace have argued that it is precisely because of our own long history of oppression and discrimination that we…

At least Putin tends to act in a logical, albeit reprehensible way, with a goal of restoring Russia’s sphere of influence. Trump is dangerously unpredictable, and it’s not clear he understands or cares what’s in the US’s interests.

Polling in Australia is historically quite stable, especially compared with places like the UK. ON poll surge can’t be dismissed. It reflects real social change that appears to be happening around the world. It’s mot simply bad/dumb people, it’s a real values shift entering mainstream society.

Trump is trying to sell Palestinian sovereignty for $1 billion per seat while Palestinians are still being bombed and starved under the so-called “ceasefire.”

This isn’t diplomacy, it’s profiteering off genocide. Australia better not touch this with a 10-foot pole.

One of the most interesting aspects of contemporary media discourse is the way that massive popular displays of support for pro-Palestinian and pacifist positions are just ignored by mainstream media. The Gathering for Gaza gig in Melbourne was huge

The Guardian is reporting the Greens will vote for the government's amended hate speech bill, including giving the immigration minister more god powers and the scheme to designate new "hate" groups. No one else is reporting this, so unclear if it's accurate. Very odd development if so.

Actually I’m enjoying the fact I’m only a few weeks from completing the first draft.

It’d be all fun and games until the Danes try to impose their anti-migrant policies.
More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with “rule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”
