For VidUKon's GPOY (here something like "show us a vid that is very you") Premiere, I vidded a city:

Kyoto.

The city of my memories, and the city (real and imagined) as it has been portrayed by animators across 22 different sources from various genres.

people who want people to get into their fandoms and blorbos USE ALT TEXT
I love when I see a picture, and I think, “well who the fuck is that?” and then the alt text tells me who the fuck it is

Sometimes life is scrolling Bsky at 2am to distract your brain from your body dealing with your outie intestine turning innie until you popped it back out. (This isn't actually painful in and of itself but it sure has knock-on effects! Those guts down there are rumbling and clanking.) #NayeHealth

Vidders are so talented and vids are so good! 🥰

This post brought to you by my being less than halfway through my Festivids watch. (And I am terrible at guessing who the talented vidders are. I just know some of you are probably reading this in which case: hi you're awesome and bring such joy!)

I looked all over town for a lined Leuchttrum notebook, finding only dotted, and ended up ordering one online. Ran out of journal yesterday and when I opened the new one today:

It is dotted.

WELL THEN. I guess I'm trying that now? I just hope it won't make my handwriting worse than it already is.

It’s frankly insulting that the worlds worst people weren’t meeting in a command center in a volcano wearing ceremonial robes but were all emailing on Hotmail accounts like “want 2 atrosity? With wemen?”

Having to see NG apologia along the lines of "the Substack article makes sense and also I'm just waiting on the issue to be decided in a court of law" with my own two eyes. 🫠 In a Swedish report from 2019, 5 out of 100 reported rapes here actually lead to a legal conviction. So. You know.

"actually his stuff was very Derivative and not Original" like, you don't have to do this. it is good for us all to sit with the cognitive dissonance that a very bad person can make very good art. it is good for us to work through the moral ramifications of that.

Fun fact: unlike on Twitter, there is no link between blocking and unfollowing on Bsky. So if you were following an account and immediately blocked it, you are still listed as a follower. (That's about 20 people I follow who also follow rapist NG, which doesn't feel great! Check and fix maybe?)

apropos of nothing in particular, @lilashapiro.bsky.social gave us a tremendous piece of journalism last year, and it's always a great time to revisit it and thank her for the work she did in bringing these stories to light.

In getting more serious about moving everything off of Google I have learned that there is no way of deleting Google Photos (the automatic backup you may now know you have - I only figured out how to stop it in 2022). As in: you have to delete them manually.

But look at these cute 2016 kitty pics!

Good god. We've spent a decade with the British media - including the BBC - claiming that the 'gender critical' movement wanted to 'protect women and girls'.

And it turns out Jeffrey Epstein was funding part of it.
I'm not being facetious. Epstein was apparently giving talking points to the people pushing anti trans rhetoric in the UK.

Chotiner: Tell me what you found interesting about these vampires.

Documentarian: Well, it's just -- the group dynamics, I guess.

Chotiner: I can see that. I can see finding Nandor, Laszlo and Nadia entertaining.

Documentarian: Exactly.

Chotiner: So. How many people did you watch them murder?

Getting incredibly frustrated by Vimeo gatekeeping some vids (or full screen versions of vids) by asking for my biometric data or government ID. No. Fuck you. ESPECIALLY not after they were acquired (and staff fired) by a "tech conglomerate" last week like. NO?? Ugh I wish there were better options.
